The Warp is calm outside the Milky Way. Enabling instantaneous travel over large distances.
(Yes. I did make that up)

little equation call relative mass mr=m/√ (1-V^2/C^2), you may of heard of it.
with enough thrust you could get close to the speed of light, but not reach it.
Definitely can't exceed it to reach FTL speeds without a major rewrite of the laws of physics.
The 40k universe may play fast and lose with some laws of physics, but if you read descriptions of space battles and out of warp travel, it is clear that relativistic physics still applies.
Fixed that for ya

Nah, it's not hit the point of being told off for being too nerdy yet (can you tell I'm proud of having been done that to?).

It would make no sense that the Warp would stop and work within the confines of the galaxy. The things that would imply about the warp going against the very idea of it.
This topic is definitely no more nerdy than actually playing 40k

Real world physics to explain why something you don't want to happen in 40k isn't happening...... We don't have all the information. You don't need a navigator if it doesn't matter where you end up. All of the reasons the probe couldn't leave the galaxy that have been mentioned so far can be countered so easily.
Except for the one about the Warp simply stopping once you hit dark space.
Which kind of makes sense, since the Warp is the realm of emotion and the reflection of souls - no more souls, no more warp - but then that falls apart when you realise that the people going out past the edge would take their own little bubble of warp with them... or the alternative is that the warp is just empty and therefore calm and safe to travel in outside the galaxy.
Plus, I don't actually know a reference for that idea, so...
The warp is infinite and constantly changing, I don't think emotion is relative to where you are, just that as long as there is emotion the warp will still exist. For example, if one considers that certain areas of the warp do not correspond to certain areas of the galaxy then why would the warp suddenly stop when attempting to travel outside of it? Also, the warp isn't even fixed in terms of time, it is accepted and even confirmed that the WHFB and WH40K universes are one and the same, and that sometimes those who go into the warp come out thousands of years ahead of when they came in, or thousands of years behind. Warp travelling is also not fixed to a certain location, as people come out in completely random places.
So why couldn't you use the warp to travel outside of the known Galaxy?

But still generally accepted by most people, I mean, demons exist in both universes at the same time...

The latest Draigo short story has Draigo end up in the WHFB universe. So at the very least, it's confirmed they do share the same warp.
Note that this does not necessarily mean they share or don't share the same galaxy or universe. Just the same warp. (far as I know, anyways)

The warp is an alternate dimension. It wouldn't be bound to the just the region of the galaxy as one, and IIRC, the warp itself is infinite. Just GW falling to the trope with so many authors of having no sense of scale.
