Who doesn't spread their models 2" apart ? Hiting 3 is not the avarge , it is what you will hit max , most of the time you will hit fewer .
And am not a he.

You might not always have space or presence of mind to spread em out 2" exactly. Regardless, large blast templates are a good way to hit a couple models.

Even if you deep strike something without a drop pod , you can always run . And there is no fog of war in w40k , so you see the templates in your opponents even pre game.
Same thing with space I have never seen a table where a guided deep striker that is the drop pod wouldn't find enough space to spread a unit , when they can deploy 6" away from it without totaly blocking LoS at the same time.

As a user of calgar with hounour guard I would never put them in a drop a pod as you can longer assualt from it. So use the turn your opponant lands it, to shoot the living daylights out of them.

Get a inceptor weapon to hit the pod as comes down, quad guns are good. Then hit tehm with a sternguard squad full of melta combies etc. I wouldn't use plasma, to risky.

Use a long range dev unit to hit them too, lasscannons would be best. remember to use the signum too for one of them to hit on a 2+, along with the tactical doctrine, you can,t miss. Vindicators will hurt them but if your opponent sees one, they will target it, to prevent you using it. So they make a good distraction for fire, if you have the points to play with.

I know it sounds a lot of points to use killing one unit but the damage they can do if you don't, it's woth it.

Hope it helps.

If your opponent is dropping a 400 point unit into your line then you respond with a smilar or greater amount of points. So 3 vindicators then give redundancy, target saturation and some flexibility over where the pod might turn up as well as dropping many more wounds on the unit that are hard to save.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

My bad I didnt mean to call you a guy its just that majority of the people here are men so I was quick to assume you were also one, guess I can add you to the mental list of females so I dont mistake you for a guy next time
