I am also in favour of equipping Wrathknight with his stock Cannons.
I second this argument:
The issue is that its not something that the Eldar army needs. You have plentiful access to anti infantry firepower, but long range anti tank firepower is harder to fit in. For me the gun is a huge downgrade, the Wraithcannon is one of the best weapons in the game, S10 AP2 which can instant death anything is pretty hard to beat.
In my opinion Guardians should stay as a
GEQ,
MEQ,
TEQ,
MC killers and stay away from taking Bright Lances (unless you play with blobs of 20). When it comes to the Fire Prism I myself was also amazed by his variety at first, but there are better horde killers (Warwalkers with Scatters for example), better
AT (Wraithknight
IMO, Bright Lance WarwalkersWraithguards for example) and many other units that do his job better than he does.
He can play many different roles but none of them at an efficiency other units do. I had some luck when I exploded some Barges or Battlewagons on the very first game turn but it didn't happen always and when somebody didn't have any tanks or they relied on some kind of save, he wasn't
IMO worth his points at all.
Another thing that peaople tend to forget (at least I get that impression from reading some people posts) is that Wraithknight is an
MC. He can also smack things (and way better than he does so with his shooting) in melee. He can tarpit many things that can't even hurt him. He can solo many
MCs and most with some psychic support. He is also a GREAT target for psychic buffs. Fortune, Prescience, Forewarning, Invisibility.
I remeber someone writhing that he loves the look of his sword/shield. Well, you could always equip him with those and mount his Wraithcannons on his shoulders instead.
