If you fielded a knight against my 30k army I would definitely make a case for my Primarch to be on the table.

I hope that's a joke. The Horus Heresy books have stuff in them that make 40k superheavies look puny in comparison, not t mention they're not intended as supplements or expanisons for the main game but as a different game altogether. If anyone will play their 40k army against a HH list, you should consider it an act of kindness and be thankful to them for it.

Considering a stock wraithknight can kill it with ease why Would there be a problem?

except that's not true.

let's look at a stock wraightknight vs a Knight Paladin for a moment.

A stock wraithknight is a jump MC with two heavy wraithcanons.

this means the WK can move 12 inches a turn... so can the Knight, this means mobility wise it's a wash. which means neither the WK or KP can decisivly set the range.

the range on the wraithknights guns are 36 inches. the rapid fire battle canon on the KP is 72 inches. thus allowing the KP to open fire earlier and potentially play a range game.

the weapons stats are: RF: BC: AP 3 S8
Wraithtknight canons: AP:2 S:10

advantage to the wraithknight here, at least in theory. however the battlecanon is sufficant to ignore the wraithknights armor, whereas the knight still gets it's invulnerability save vs the wraithknight. over all I'd give a slight edge to the Knight Paladin here.

thing is, the wrightknight could put up a hell of a fight vs a Knight Paladin, but ultimatly that fight is going to be hugely dependant on setting the range. if the KP can eaither stay out of 36 inches, or close to melee range, the WK is dead.

Unless the WK is aggressive and goes head to head with the KP. Strip a hull point or two (or three) at range and then charge it. Between hammer of wrath and its base attacks it should get a couple of penetrating hits potentially killing the KP before it ever gets to strike.

No, they really don't. There was kind of an argument when 30k had superheavies as lords of war but 40k didn't, but now that Escalation is part of the game 40k just dominates. The only things that can match up with high-end 40k superheavies (Warhounds, Revenants, etc) are the ones that are exact copies of the 40k stuff. Meanwhile the rest of the 30k army list is pretty weak overall, most of the good stuff is really expensive and spamming 20-man tactical squads with nothing but bolters isn't going to win too many games. A Riptide spam list would probably wipe a 30k army off the table without much effort.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
