Skimmers have always been the elephant in the room when it comes to flyers. They sit somewhere between vehicle and aircraft and are a more modest representation of aerial units on the battlefield. Then you got actual flyers, which in terms of rules tend to outclass skimmers in every way: faster, harder to kill, impossible to assault, can fire 2 to 4 times the number of weapons on the move and they tend of overshadow skimmers. It makes units like landspeeders feel like poor mans flyers, and oddly enough, virtually every skimmer using army tends to have poor flyers save Necrons (who had only one vehicle of any kind before their update). So I can certainly understand the desire to want to improve older skimmer models by making them flyers so they can keep up with the codex arms race. It is probably better to keep them distinct, but I can certainly understand the desire. What is really needed is a rebalancing between vehicles, skimmers and flyers to put everyone on the same footing.

There almost like a helicopter vs a jet. One can hover, fly low, yet fly at a decent altitude. However is outclassed in range, speed and payload by a jet as well as fly higher than the helicopter and our class in air to air combat.

Skimmers, are kind of a attack helicopter

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
