Yep. Most truly good tau lists (or any lists for that matter) are going to have some way of cracking AV 14. Tau can bring fusion blasters on Riptides (and often do) as secondary weapons for last ditch efforts against tanks. Double Fusion Suits suicide DS'ing is a thing too. Granted, these aren't entirely common, but they will mess up your tailored list's day real quick. Another thing to keep in mind is that it's only gonna work once. As soon as he sees two LRs full of nasties on the table, he's bringing fusion guns.

Allying Daemons is the best idea really. Lots of Khorne Hounds scouting really makes a lot of tau players sweat. Even better if you can get the Grimoire on them.
