Considering how quickly GW sold out of the fantasy Dwarves limited edition codices, you think they'd realize that people really like short dudes with beards.

Something they could do to make them interesting is 2 hull point AV9 troops with a 4 or 5+ "cover" save granted by the black smoke billowing out of their cybernetic armored bodies. Hardly OP, still a unique concept.

There's a million directions they could take it. It's not like a lot of what's in 40k right now is all that different from each other. We've got at least 4 varieties of space marines that aren't all that different from each other at the end of the day (codex marines and the 3 non-compliant chapters), two Xenos races that play pretty much the same (lolgunline Tau or Eldar), two other xenos races that play the same (HORDES in Orks and Nids), etc. etc. If you want to build armies to play similarly, you can. Making it so there was a more elites style army that also had viable indirect fire would be cool.

Or, hell, at the current state of 6E, make an army that's incredibly good at blowing up Lords of War.

It was never a case of people not liking them, Jervis expressly stated on the Epic forums that they weren't dropped due to sales.

Of course the bean counters could order the studio to develop them, but it would be a soulless thing if there was no creative spark behind it.

Did GW ever have a real exuse for anti Squats? I heard from a red shirt many moons ago that it was because they didnt want fantasy races in 40k. Makes no sence to me. We got: Space Elves (Eldar), Space Orks, Space Ogres (ogryns) Space Hobbits (rattling snippers). why not space dwarfs on that line of thinking? I figured it would be cool if some survived and joined the fold of the guard and became a type of tech preist. Meh just a thought.

probably because theyre stupid. but then they kept space puppies, space mongols and made space marine opera singers so maybe im wrong.

I was thinking of possible new identities for 40k scale Demiurge. They are a mining race. What if their vehicles had a mining theme to them?

Also, what if you mixed-up the squad options a bit? Instead of buying a squad with the option of a transport, what if you bought a vehicle with the option of taking infantry support? (basically extra "workers" for mining equipment)

They could have vehicles that can overwatch without embarked passengers.

Also, they could have vehicles that can embark on other, larger vehicles. With the way GW is favoring larger sized kits these days that could work out well for them. Imagine a 2000 point army made up of 3 slow larger-than-Landraider models with a few scout vehicles, a handful of mining exosuits, some grunt laborers, and some energy-shield barriers kind of things (imagine something that if fired though would provided decent cover to friendly units, but NOT enemy units. Possibly dropped by a light skimmer kind of "gyrocopter")

I think that is enough to give them a unique identity in the 40k game.

So, I herd you like tanks, so we put more tanks into your tank, so you can tank out while tanking around...?

Sounds not too bad to be honest, though if GW tries that, your average 1500 pts army will probably cost 600+ €...
Other than that, I like...

Here is another idea for them:

Weaponless artillery. Basically, imagine an Aegis defense line, but with the artillery rules. Members of the squad can move the walls ahead of them as they advance or retreat.

I've always been annoyed they dropped Squats, while I respect that no one there at the office felt any passion for them so they dropped them (better than putting out crappy products you hate), I feel like there is a place for Squats in 40k. Hell, the guy who used to do squats, does a line of minatures called "scrunts" now, and I love them, much better than the old "biker dudes" theme. My gaming group and I spent a night sitting around imagining how those scrunt minis would play as an army, we came up with a mix of Space Marine/Imperial Guard rules. I was instructed to dig out my old "squat" box (Don't say it) and bring in all their old fluff so we can decide on some stats and special rules, A couple guys are interested in buying 500 pts worth of these scrunt models just to paint and then play some games in our local group. Says a lot to me that guys will throw down on a nice model with made up rules just to play space dwarves.

Other thought, I expect the Demiurg will get some units one day and be the GW space dwarf, so....yay? (I hate the Tau)
