I love the 30k back-story, it's got the mythological feel that the 40k setting sort of lacks.

I prefer 40k as a background setting. The Xenos are more "in play" at this point, what with the Necrons waking up, the Tyranids omnoming the galaxy, the Tau crawling out of their mud huts, and the Eldar being all angsty. I'm firmly in the camp that the story stagnation of 40k makes it a better setting to... wait for it... forge a narrative.

Keep in mind tho that during 30k there are still enemies such as the eldar and orks and new enemies that we such as the magarchnid. I do like 40k but not for space marines. I like the tau and other races. 40k space marines seem so bland.

I prefer 40k. There is more variety in the factions.

30k is a SM orgasm.

They do? But 30K is just 18 Legions with their own distinct cultures. 40K Marines can be so much more diverse in terms of how they act and what they believe.
