I like this.
This is my favorite version of Spyder-Star I've seen yet.
(slightly tempted to drop a Wraith from each unit to add a Veil-tek to one of the foot slogging Warriors, just so I'd have a third mobile scoring unit. Opponents normally never expect that one, too. Sudden out of no where teleport onto an objective to steal the win).
I don't like having any solitary foot slogging units in an optimal list so other than the footsloggers, the list looks pretty solid.
One Spyder-Star variant I have seen features a Necron Monolith for more teleporting and gunline breaking shenanigans.
The thing I like most about Spyder-Star is that it enables models in the Necron Codex that have fallen out of tourney lists, like Spyders, Monoliths, and scarab farming. Some players are trading in redundant power of spammed units for the versatility that comes with a little diversity, which allows for radically different tactics to be employed in each matchup.

In somewhat related news, tank hunters on a night scythe is really awesome whan that damn heldrake just needs to die. All hail the nemesor.
What was your list, I have a Army list I'm trying to build thats a "balanced" list for Necrons with multiple threats that combines Wraithstar and SpyderStar a little bit.
HQ1: Nemesor Zahndrekh (Warlord) [185]
HQ1b: Vargard Obyron [160]
HQ2: Destroyer Lord (125), Sempiternal Weave (15), Mindshackle Scarabs (20) [160]

Okay I really like this except the 2 5 man squads of Warriors and Obyron.
I kind of like running
Veiltek
Stormtek
Stormtek
Do you think this would work?
HQ1: Nemesor Zahndrekh (Warlord) [185]
HQ2: Destroyer Lord (125), Sempiternal Weave (15), Mindshackle Scarabs (20) [160]
Royal Court
VeilTek w/ Abysal Staff , Veil of Darkness , 2 Stormteks (120)
Troop1: 7 Necron Warriors w/ Ghost Ark (206)
Troop3: 5 Necron Warriors [65]
Troop4: 5 Necron Warriors [65]
FA1: 5 Canoptek Wraiths [175]
FA2: 5 Canoptek Wraiths [175]
FA3: 8 Canoptek Scarabs [105]
HS1: Annihilation Barge (90), Tesla Cannon (0) [90]
HS2: Annihilation Barge (90), Tesla Cannon (0) [90]
HS3: 3 Canoptek Spyders (150), Gloom Prism (15) [165]
Transport1: Night Scythe [100] (Troop1)
Transport2: Night Scythe [100] (Troop2)
Comes to 1801
So I have 49 points to put somewhere. I like having the Ghost Ark w/ him on there as it can zoom around get jink etc.. or stay out of LOS. If needed I can deep strike the Veil Tek w/ the Stormteks to try and put pressure on something, plus the whole give a squad tank hunter, at the most with perfect rolling I could put 12 additional bases onto the Scarabs.
Thoughts?
I really like functionality.

Assuming this is still supposed to be a Spyder-Star list, how, pray tell, are you planning on getting the Spyder-Star itself into combat without their usual mode of transport? Yeah, I've seen something about people considering that before, but I've never actually seen anyone run it, so I have no idea how viable it is.
You have a Monolith using list you could post?

I know the combo but the few times I've tried it never worked right, I kind of always just moved my guys normally and people shot the wraiths of course I've played it once, so meh I'm no expert and I just started with Necrons. The combo is to just teleport with the Ghost Helm, I kind of like tarpitting with Scarabs though. It never came up really, it's more of just a general thing I've been trying out. Again though I've only played it a few times , I've played Wraithstar a few and was like " I want something that isn't spammy and is just a fun good list and strong in multiple ways".
I always found for whatever reason people shoot at either the Spyders who are putting Scarabs into the Scarab swarm, or try and shoot the wraiths depending on LOS. You get 1 Turn to do that then Welp here are a whole bunch of Scarabs in your stuff.
I haven't used Spyders that much and have been messing around with a "tyranid" style Necron Army with 2 full Spyders, 2 Full Wraiths , and a Overlord w/ CCB, Destroyer Lord with just a lot of back up shooting from troops coupled with support from Royal Courts.

Well, the canonical Spyder Star list runs 3x5 warriors all in Night Scythes, 3 Spyders (one with gloom prison), 3x5 wraiths, 2 Annihilation Barges, Nemesor (1st HQ), Obyron, and a Destroyer Lord (2nd HQ) with Semipternal Weave.
The Monolith variant runs -1 unit of 5 wraiths, -2 barges, +9 scarabs, +1 monolith, + mindshackle scarabs on the Destroyer Lord.
You lose the straight-up power of a full 3 units of wraiths and all the barges but gain the tactical finesse of the scarabs, the monolith, and the mindshackle scarabs.

Oh, yeah, ok (Ghostwalk Mantle).
For a second I was afraid you were either trying to attach a Veil-tek to the unit, or were trying to get them into a Ghost Ark. (it did provide an amusing mental image of crazy old Zahndrekh trying to herd these giant confused metal spiders into a space boat which is three sizes too small for them, with Obyron in the background desperately trying not to roll his eyes as the Destroyer Lord, desperate to hurry up and wreck sh*t, just starts impatiently whacking the front of the Ark with his Warscythe).

Yeah I just don't use it. I feel there's enough threats on the board with the spiders etc.. that I do well enough. Check your PMs by the way. I'm currently a big fan of playing this Dual CCB Lord Army with 6 Spyders and 2 Giant Unit of Scarabs w/ Wraiths as back up.

Yup, old school Scarab Farm is still somewhat competitive.
While I generally favor Wraith-Wing, I must admit I'm still a big fan of less commonly seen but viable lists (eg. AV-13 Wall, Death-Scythe, RCDI, etc.)

Honestly now that I think about it, it's more like Dark Eldar than Tyranids, as I back up my horde w/ 2 small units in Ghost Arks w/ Crypteks w/ Eldritch Lances, One has a Sunburst to guarentee I have nightfight at least one turn so I can get some cover saves.

For the sake of saving money, with a little creativity, you can make 2 annihilation barges out of one kit. There's a tutorial somewhere out there on the interweb.

No I mean two annihilation barges, keep the tesla destructors seperate so one tesla destructor on one annihilation barge and one on another. Personally, I always thought that the twinlinked representation of tacking two identical guns together was silly (makes more sense to me for volume of shots). Tacking on something that can represent some sort of improved sighting equipment makes more sense to me.

Seperate the hull in half (the main section of the hull is in two parts on the sprue) and work on it from there. Like I said, there's a vid some guy put out showing how to make one annihilation barge kit into two. I don't like completely where he went with it so I'm trying something else though I'm splitting the hull in two and the gun in two like he did.

Why do people not use the ability to to ally with Dark Harvest as a way to take additional Heavy and Fast Attack.
The only problem with Dark Harvest is the minimum troop requirement but that actually works to your advantage as you can have a infiltrating, unit of Flayed Ones who have the shred ability. It most certainly is a great ability. Even 15 of them are worth it.
Add to that they get Destroyer Lords just like the normal Codex and you basically have 1 extra slot for each.
The most important part is that you can have a actual Dual Wraithstar , Spyder Star List.
2 x5 Wraiths (1 from the primary, 1 from allied )
2 x2 8 Man Scarab Squads
2 x3 Spyder Squads
2 Annihilation Barges
2 Destroyer Lords
I just got Dark Harvest but it seems like a great powerhouse of an addition to the Necron Army to make it even more competitive. I've not see WraithSTar with Flayed Ones before so I am unsure but it seems you can have a very competitive list.
Yeah Checking my math but
HQ
1x Destroyer Lord w/ Goods 160 ( Primary)
1x Destroyer Lord w/ Goods 160 ( Allied)
Troops
10 Flayed Ones w/ Scarabs (140)
5 Man Warrior w/ Night Scythe ( 165 )
5 Man Warrior w/ Night Scythe ( 165)
Fast Attack
1 Wraith x 5 w/ 2 Whip Coils (195) ( Primary)
1 Wraith x 5 w/ 2 Whip Coils (195) ( Allied)
1 x 8 Canoptek Swarm (120)
1 X 8 Canoptek Swarm ( 120)
Heavy Support
Annihilation Barge (90) (Allied)
1 x 3 Spyder w/ Gloom 165 ( Primary)
1 x 3 Spyder w/ Glooom 165 ( Primary )
Annihilation Barge (90)
This is just a quick and dirty list. I think it comes out to 1930, I'm sure you could find points somewhere to get it to 1850 but this was just an off the cuff.

FW army lists are very rarely legal in tournaments, that's probably the main reason you don't really see dark harvest allies.
Taking 10 flayed ones as the compulsory troops, and then one more unit of wraiths and a third destoyer lord is interesting, but at 1850 there isn't really enough points to use that to full effect, and at 2000 you get another FOC anyway.

Yeah, I don't really play in Tournaments. Also I've always found that kind of stupid that they wouldn't allow it. It just doesnt make sense to me.
I love the Dark Harvest list, it feels like Old Necrons w/ the FLayed ones and them being insane. I do understand things are broken to a degree when you do that but it is kind of interesting, I just htink of them as different Craftworlds.
You can get really silly with them though because you have 12 Monstrous Creatures with the ability to put out 12 Scarab units Which is crazy town. You can get weird old school tyranid lists with literally no shooting in the army into the list. Like you can make a entire Necron army with no shooting. That's awesome.
That's a fun list!

Yeah not always, I like using Nemesor with my Spyders or I usually go with 2 squads of Scarabs and 2 or 3 Squads of 3 Spyders but yeah I do the mini one as well. I've been using 6, got a good deal on some of the older ones on ebay and want to put up more because it's cheap points and fun. I just like the spyders, their super cheap monstrous creatures. Nemesor is fun to use with them because he can give them all kinds of really cool abilities.

Thanks for all the great feedback! I have purchased 2 boxes of warriors and a destroyer, soon to be destroyer lord. I currently have several horde armies so my biggest appeal to this army was low model count.
I do not have a huge amount of resources so I will be purchasing this army over the next year or so. My plan of purchases is next to get 2 scythes, then 6 wraiths, then a A-barge, and then back to the order of 2 scythes, 6 wraiths, and a A-barge.
I am also constantly purchasing other things, which is why this may take at least a year.
My final army will include 1 Destroyer lord, 4x night scythe 5 warriors, 12-15 wraiths, 2 A-Barges, with some adjustments to include either spyders or doom scythes.

Sounds like you have a great plan.
I'd keep an eye out for the Scythes and Barges on ebay. They are pretty commonly posted, and some times at very good prices if your patient and check semi-regularly.
I'd also take skoffs advice about a second Destroyer Lord, at least eventually...they are that good.

I had a super fun game with playing a Monstrous Creature Spam Dark Harvest List. It's pretty ridiculously under powered against fliers but it's still a heck of a lot of fun.
Basically Dark Harvest is better than normal Necrons, except you don't get those cool ass characters like Nemesor, but who cares!!
This was at 2000 points, I have only fielded it partiall with proxies but now that I have a bunch of Spyders I think I can create some "homemade" tomb sentinels
Also, Pylons with Deepstrike and Death Rays are hilarious to add with Nemesor simply because of the Deep Strike thing

It's probably worth it to see what your local gaming community feels about Imperial Armor books before investing in forgeworld (or converting stuff to forgeworld).
If I want to play Dark Harvest with my group of friends, no problem...but if I wanted to play Dark Harvest at my flgs, I wouldn't get a game, because they don't respect Imperial Armor books for non-Apoc games.

Yeah, I have and never will understand people who say "Forgeworld" not allowed. I mean honestly, if someone doesn't want to play against it they can say I don't want to play against it, but it shouldn't be "because that's not legit".
