Torpedo,s tend to be one use munitions, once you embed in few metres of adamantium hull, blow the hatch open I strongly doubt you could back one out, and leave via same way

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

It doesn't make sense that a "torpedo" would be a self-powered, guided vessel, beyond its initial targeting and propulsion units.

I can see them getting back aboard something like an assault shuttle, which is basically a very small, very-heavily-armored ship that tries to go from its mother ship to the enemy vessel as quickly as possible to drop off a boarding party. Then that ship just stays in whatever air-lock, hull-breach or captured landing bay it arrived at until its party returns to disembark or has been killed to a man, so the boarding shuttle turns around and goes back home.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
