Note that while certain things are Gifts, if they effect another unit instead of the owner (such as the Grimoire) you cannot negate its effects.
There is a page, can't remember the number, in the codex which basically says "Daemonic Gifts" and then lists the above things in a sort of table of contents for the section.
basically anything that isn't a Psychic power falls into the category, and Steeds are explicitly immune to DE. So it pretty much takes away all the things

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Is it the table of contents?
I remember it being in the middle of the book somewhat.

Page 61 goes into a little more detail, specifically the fact that special characters gifts are listed elsewhere.

So I was cheated recently in a tournament game... I was told I couldn't use Dark Excommunication against rewards because they weren't gifts?
That's pretty upsetting since it involved a balesword and a dreadknight. That's actually game changing as I would have then beat the tar out of that daemon prince.

If a TO said no, your SOL. If it was your opponent, you should've called over a TO.

TO said they were rewards, not gifts, thus the power is now useless.
Had I known to look at Pg 2 of the Daemons Codex (I have since acquired a copy)... That's frustrating.

@TheKbob: unfortunately, they have yet to create a TO that knows all of the rules.. and quite a few of them may only play casually and are just there to help. If you get a TO involved and your opponent appears to be more certain of a rule than you are then more often than not they will rule against you.
Glad to hear you got a copy of the relevant codex. It's good to know your enemy.

It's good to know your enemy. That's a bummer that some TOs would act in such a manner. Whenever I TO and I am unfamiliar with a rule in a rules-dispute, I ask the player who has made the dubious claim to show me the book so that I can make an informed judgment. If he doesn't have the book, and so cannot make a valid argument, I immediately rule in favour of the opponent, since you should always have your rules. The best time I DIDN'T have to call a TO over was playing as Daemons against GK (which I also collect/play avidly). I charged his DKnight with my Tzeentch Prince, and prepared to smash face. He said, "You're initiative 1, haha!" I said, "Psyk-out grenades have no effect unless you're the one declaring the charge." I then had to prove it to him by showing it to him in his own codex. He was disappointed that his DKnight died so easily (six S8AP2 attacks), and I was disappointed that a Malleus player didn't know his own rules. That anecdote is to show that it is indeed good to know your opponent's rules, especially in a Daemon- GK match (since they have a lot of enemy-specific stuff).

However, as all of these shenanigans besides parking on a skyshield need a psyker; you do have many ways to feth with them. Psychotroke grenades in particular are hilarious, and Mindstrike missiles don't give a rat's ass about saving throws.
Vindicare can only remove invul saves granted by wargear, not special rules.

Sort of. DE removes the Exalted reward, which in turn removes the grimoire, which is used in part to provide the re-rollable 2++.
Dark Excomunication removes any rewards, and I play it as the Swords on my crushers etc, as well as the armour save on a bloodthirster.
