It's meant to be a battle board like you see in hq in war films, nhence the push stick along the side and so it represents the battle plans so as to make it worth fighting over, but a game board works too.
It is epic, yes - we have loads of little figures that fell off the sprues so it seemed a good use for them.

the strategic battle board idea is probably even better then a "mere" gaming board...
my issues would be the surface you used to have the minis stand upon...that looks a wee bit cheap...sorry...to redo this idea...I would have either gone for a marble mosaic ground where the pieces can be moved via that push stick....the grass is not really something you have to push the minis around over... more likely to get pushed and toppled over...
and my second idea would be to have an actual table to have the minis on/in...but the marble floor is my favourite...
if I ever get some epic minis of my own then I will try that idea for sure...my posh british steampunk imperials could benefit from such a nice detail...besides, I just love such mini dioramas...
hopefully I didn´t come over here as rude...that totally wasn´t my point...
cheers,vik

No, that's really helpful. I had initially planned to have it just painted as a green field for that reason but it looked like I'd forgotten to finish it. Hasn't thought of marble, I'm kicking myself now.
If you want to pm me your address I can send you some epic bits like that if you want to try it yourself? I'd be interested to see how it turns out.

oh yummy....can´t refuse such an offer^^... PM is coming in the next sec^^
well one other question is needed... what size is the base? I think that idea is worth to be shown on a CD...and IF you redo it, then I would suggest using cork (the stuff you get at IKEA for putting your glass on) as a means to make marble tiles...that...or you just paint marble on flat plasticcard/ cardboard... if you want to see what I have in mind...
I glued that thin cork in small randomly square cut tiles...you could break it even in very small pieces and make a really cool looking map like er...map out of tiles...

Nice use of otherwise waste.
You could seal them with PVA/water first and then you shouldn't need so much paint.
Another nice idea with the battleboard thing.
Keep up the good work.

Been ages since I had anything to post, but I got back into the swing of it recently.
The one of the left is a copy of Proiteus' amazing Christmas Squig http://www.deviantart.com/art/The-Traditional-Xmas-Squig-105759006 , and on the left is a hasslefree miniature kiddie painted up as my own daughter at Warhammer Fest.

She loved it. She's a dark elder player but we didn't figure that kind of cosplay was appropriate, so she got my commissar hat. Once she realised that people reacted to her in it she was really thrilled. The space marine shot her for being a commissar, but that's space marines for you :-)

These are all awesome and I love them. The most creative objective marker I have is I got the "Ice Frog" model off Reapermini and painted it to look like the Hypnotoad. A bunch of space marines fighting because they got mind controlled by the Hypnotoad amuses me to no end.
Seriously creative stuff, man. I think my favorites are the IG graves. Just great imagery there.

Thanks. I don't know why but I love making objective markers, it's good to know they keep other folks amused too.
The hypnotoad idea is awesome, btw.
