I mean of course it does, but I play Taudar and Eldar regularly and have repeatedly seen good lists with plenty of S6/7 spam struggle to kill enough hounds quickly enough. I'm not saying it's an auto win, but they're tough. Obviously Inquisitors are a pretty hard counter to such tactics, so it may not work in a tournament setting, but against xenos, I stand by the doges. Last game I recall, him shooting at a unit of 18 hounds with 2 broadsides, HBC/ECPA riptide, Wave Serpent, 10 guardians, 3 double plas suits , 6 missiles and SMS from a Skyray, and maybe a missile pod or two with everything buffed by guide, prescience or markerlights. He killed 14, but it still wasn't enough to get to the herald who bounced over to a unit of 12 that took 1 maybe 2 casualties that shooting phase, and then proceeded to work through his lines. Granted, I lost that game, but it was down to the wire. I know this is anecdotal and yadda yadda people hate that on here, but I assure you the dice were more or less average (no yahtzees of 5's and 6's to save or anything). Similar scenarios have also played out in numerous other games. I find the hardest thing for hounds to be serpent spam. They do kind of melt to that much weight of fire. That's why there's three Tz'eralds to forewarning+grimoire them if you get turn 1 though

In short, I wouldn't relegate them to "non-competitiveness" so easily.

Thanks for sharing this report. I like the way you have put it together, and the Hell turkey images are fantastic and bought a smile to my face.

Any idea where the ork boys that have legged might be? Seems a bit strange that half of them ran off.

Also, where in NZ are you? I'm in Auckland and looking at heading into a club (I've been looking at ACG) as my friends are not really into the tabletop gaming any more, So I'm trying to find somewhere to play.

Woah didn't notice any of the replies after my last post here.

How did his flier manage not to come in until turn four? Really crappy rolling? And would it have mattered if it came in earlier when more of his list was alive?

My memory of the last few turns was a bit hazy, it may have came on in three. Whenever it came on, it did jack all, then mooned my lootas and got like triple killed.

Yeah, this guy has no idea how to play. His tactic is "find the strongest thing in the game and spam it". At the time of buying his list the strongest thing was helldrakes, so he proceeded to use them to bully fluff lists for ages

Either they're like, on top of some shelf someplace, or I left them at the Equinox tournament. I went there just to show a new player what 40k was about and had a trainer game. Figures my reward for that is losing half my models...

Auckland. I used to game at ACG a lot last year but haven't been in very much recently. Its not a fantastic club for 40k, primarily its a Fantasy club with a bit of Flames of War, but given the other major 40k club has been closed all year its probably the best place.

I have to go in next week because I've sold some stuff and agreed to meet the buyer there. Could give you a game if you want? I've only faced Tyranids once so always game to give them a good scrap. Apologies in advance for some less than stellar paintjobs on a few things, since I lost half my models I haven't had the heart to do much to replace them and maybe never will.

Well, if the other place is shut down and this is best, then I'll drop ACG a line and get in there at some stage.

Thanks for the offer of a game this weekend, but busy with other stuff this time round. So maybe in the future if you want to bash up some bugs we can organise a meet up.

Thats a pity man, don't know when I'll next be in, not in the habit of going there any more.

It can help to arrange a game before you go to CG using their forum (aucklandcityguard.com) or facebook page.

Neither are very busy, but I've seen a lot of people rock up solo and not get games. Maybe one every other visit. Maybe its changed since I've last been in though.
