I do use a combination of my fine detail brush & my standard to get a good blend.

As use standard to put some of the Blood for the blood god onto edge and a bit over edge of weapon, then use my fine detail brush to flick it upwards so the effect already there gets spread out on both sides, it worked a bit on a Wrack that was done.
