I have some in-box space slann that I want to add to my collection (I did not own either of these two previously) but they are still in their 1987 box. I want to paint them so bad, but I don't want my 40 year old self to hate my past self because he can't sell them for hundreds of dollars. Can someone who is more venerable about this stuff give me some insight? Also I have two genestealer patriarchs in the same situation, I don't want to paint them now, but once I have amassed enough hybrids and get the last missing magus model I don't know if I will be able to help myself.

Will I hate my self 20 years from now if I open the boxes?

Take half and paint them, keep the other half. Since you have two Genestealer Patriarchs, keep one sealed and paint the other.

You can only have one Genestealer Patriarch in an army anyway.

Every time I go to a car show and see some beautifully tuned sports car from the 60s get wheeled off its trailer into the display spot my heart shrivels up a little. You know the owner never actually drives it. What's the point?

As someone who owns such a vehicle, I can tell you there are times it doesn't get driven because its painfully expensive to maintain and drive

They're really not car shows, they're more... 1:1 scale model shows.

And good on the OP for popping the Slann out of their blisters and using them!

Does anyone have any good reccommendations for frog colours? I just primed my OOP models and want some inspiration.

my personal opinion on this issue is open them.

I personally dislike the whole culture of nostalgia that's been bred from 'retro revival' in the recent ish past.

Its like saying the rubbish thing we had to improve back then we're going back to because despite it being inferior in every way it was in some way better.

If you don't believe me compare a modern model to an old one. The difference is substantial and we all know really which one is better and why. <--- this statement does not include finecast products which are inferior in material.

I still have a few marines and chaos marines from the old RT days floating around.
My Marines Malevolent detachment has more than their fair share of RT and 2nd ed figures.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.
