I have one big army, the IG, where I'm still buying stuff for them. Now, it's mostly eBaying older Valhallan or metal IG figs, and some newer tank models and stuff.

Then I have a 2000 point Imperial Fist list I'm slowly building to. And I bought some tyranid stuff, but it's nowhere near a complete army and is on indefinite hold.

I would say I have one large "starting" army and have expanded to a few smaller army's that make up one certain list I enjoy playing from that race.

Having just recently gotten into the hobby, I have a large Chaos Space Marine army as my primary (over 2500 points) and am currently eyeing an Astra Militarum army as a smaller, secondary choice.

I like the idea of allied detachments and, in particular, the AM predilection for heavy armor and artillery. I suspect I'll end up with at least a couple heavy supports, an HQ or two, and 2-3 troops with possibly an elite or two. Haven't quite thought it out yet.
