Throughout the books they have the statlines and wargear for just about every model in existance. I've been thinking of giving it a go myself, doing a "quick" 500 point game of CSM versus loyalists.
Any group of Acolytes can mow down a horde ten times their own number in a single round. So 5 PCs vs 50 whatevers is a single round of combat with 50 dead whatevers and maybe some slightly-injured PCs. Probably not, though, if they have a decent Psyker with Biomancy for Seal Wounds. A party of Space Marines? You need to get into the 100-to-1 level of Hordes before they become a threat.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

How about a quick version, less special rules in play and ideal for a lower point game.
Not so much simple but optimizes and made more efichiant.
Not kill team, a full game just made quicker and more time practical.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Personally, I would love to have two versions of Warhammer 40K.
An indepth, "advanced" version for small scale games (a la Kill Team, less than 500 points), and a streamlined version for large scale games (like the common game sizes we have now with 1500+points).
The problem is that Warhammer 40K is trying to do both with a single set of rules for all sizes of the game.

@Tannhauser42.
if the rules were written for the game play of 40k.You could use the same core rule set for both games.
The skirmish game focuses on detailed model interaction.And the battle game focuses on detailed UNIT interaction.
Same stat lines and resolutions and game mechanics.Just appropriate element focus.

Thats what I was talking about. And actually, that makes more sense for larger games. When you have to manage only 2-3 squads, it's okay that each has two special rules or whatever. Once you field 10 squads, this becomes a nightmare, so I'll probably homebrew something simpler than that.
