I suspect it's on purpose. My guess is they are aiming to simplify it. Seems kind of messed up though, especially depending on your terrain. Any multi story building is just a death trap....

You embark in buildings, so only ruins become death traps, but you get an automatic cover save for being in them (even if that's the roof) so it almost balances out.

Guess no more argument about the skyshield at least. I don't much like this aspect. Did they clear up the Voids shields at least?

Nope, sadly Void Shields weren't touched as none of the buildings in Stronghold Assault were covered so to make people still need to buy that book.

Actually there was a bit about blasts and templates only doing a single hit to the Void Shield, so it was cleaned up a bit.

Are multi level ruins still mentioned in the stronghold assault book?

Not that I recall. Not that it matters as the rules for Ruins are updated in the main rulebook (they give cover saves for being in them, regardless where the shooter is).

At the time I wrote that response the FAQs had not been released yet.

But I digress. This is really a rules thread, and so should be discussed in the YMDC forum. However, there is already a thread there covering this subject, so I'll lock this thread and any such discussion can continue there:

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!
