best CC deathstar I know of is veteran vanguard, all kitted out with thunderhammer & stormshields, with jet packs, with a jetpack chaplain.

12" move, 3++, S8 attacks, re-rolling to hit and multicharging without losing their attacks is quite terrifying.

I also think ghazkull, 8 meganobs and mad dok grotsnik in a red battlewgon would do the job. fearless, FNP, 5+ invulns from cybork, 4 S9 AP2 attacks apiece with ghazzy to eliminate other deathstars with 2++ for a turn to tank on... the only problem is they have to move closer every turn. oh no, how terrible, my chargy squad has to charge.

Strangely Beautiful Daemonette of Slaanesh

where the wind comes sweeping down the plains

The DC tops the vv for offensive efficiency...

5 attacks per guy, rerollable, 3+ to wound...in a 10 on 10 fight, the vv would have to make 36 saves on the charge, not including the HoW hits if they used jetpacks...

An exceptional roll would keep 1-2 alive to retaliate

If the vv charged the DC, then they would only have to make about 22 saves, which would keep 3 alive, who would then kill 5 DC, it's still in DC's favor, at a much cheaper cost

Would a D.Lord be able to grant PE to Lords if attached to a court?

Regardless, every time I try to put together a RCDI it always ends up costing close to 1000 points.
Yeah, I could probably get it down to 600 points if I really tried, but you'd either have to skimp on the survivability or the killiness. I just can't bring myself to do that.

Well, I think there are several good deathstars out there.
However, it will become a real deathstart only with invisibility or fortune or something similar.

Beaststar is now massively better based on Rending from Misfortune and Invis.

I'd bank on beaststar being one of the best now.

Simplest would have to be the wraith-star.
D-lord with mss + 6 wraiths comes to 350pts.
If only wanting to pay 600pts:
2 units consisting of d-lord and 4 wraiths, with 2 whip coils in each unit. Very durable, very fast and very dangerous. Also being able to target twice as many units. Although I would prefer 6 in each unit tbf.
Or 1 dlord with mss, 2 units of 6 wraiths with 2 whipcoils in each. If one unit gets shot up, simply move the dlord to the other unit.

Don't see why not. A royal court can be a unit in its own right. An independent character can join a unit. A d lord is an independent character. Preferred enemy goes to the unit. And I think the 6 MSS makes this the most effective of the necron deathstars under the circumstances listed (it makes the charge into combat). A lot of the enemy unit are going to be slashing themselves up.
