I do use IG allies though, these days. Not much of a point of NOT doing so.
I sold my IG allies. They are a great combination and I would not dog anyone for using them. It's just I was quickly on a train of having a guard army with SoB allies. I do have a plan on using Blood Angels allies, though. I think that fits the SoB theme nicely. That or Salamanders.
Man, I love Space Marines...
Oh, and OP. I have some REALLY bad news. You should probably sit down. If you are sitting down, stand up, walk a bit, and then sit down extra hard. Are you ready?

Eh, I never liked Catachan to begin with, so I wasn't upset with that. As for me, I mostly have my guard allies for the purpose of having heavy firepower while my Sisters are the grunt infantry. Helps against air-heavy armies anyway.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

One of my key motivators to getting rid of my IG was that they axed Marbo. I ran him as a bad-ass Elysian that "jumped" in versus coming out of the shadows. Forge the Narrative and what not.
He was the most "Narrative Forging" model I had in my army and was always the star of the game, be it blowing up from his own demo charging, or knifing down some Wolf Guard terminators and getting linebreaker like a boss. I loved Marbo and he was "40k" to me. Overcosted little demo charge delivery service that was just a crazy dude.
When they axed him, it was just the last straw on the notion of playing IG.

I wonder whether CSM will keep their name.
What's funny is that, a few years ago, Aaron Dembski-Bowden blogged about how Black Library was handing down orders to its authors to stop referring to Space Marines as "Astartes" or "Adeptus Astartes" because they wanted to strengthen the "Space Marine" copyright claim.
I think you're right, and I'll be amused to see them reverse course on the naming conventions yet again in the wake of the Chapter House case.

Then you haven't listened to the average CSM player on DakkaDakka then We recently had like a 12 page thread about them not being good enough in the General Discussion forum.
Well like I said, I've been out a few months and before I wasn't on here often, just for occasional questions and Ailaros' battle reports.

Given that the imperial knights were released like a month before ig, I doubt it. You cant get much more generic than'imperial knight'.
There's a precedence for two updates for a codex before the rest have caught up, I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see some minor rules changes just for GW to change to more IP protected name with their current mentality.. Hold off on binning them brother, common perception is that they axed him so that they can force people to buy the Catachan/ deathworlders supplement.
And guess who has 3-1 odds I favour of being the star of the show?

I think the Militarum Tempestus Codex is actually a supplement book.

Oh, boy. Cutting out content from a book and selling it to me in another form? Oh,... Joy...

It's not a supplement. It's called a codex and doesn't reference a parent codex. That's what makes it a mess when it comes to including them in an army.

There was no copyright infringement. GW changed the name to attempt to prevent other companies from manufacturing alternative miniatures and selling them as Imperial Guard, although I have never seen any actually called Imperial guard and it has no real effect in the real world. Basically the name change was unnecessary and utterly, utterly stupid.
They did it so no one else could use there name to sell off cast miniatures, and so they can copy right astum miliatium or whatever.
