We're almost to the point where they could issue the Epic rulebook and call it 8th. Would probably play better.

I could die happy if GW dropped all pretence of 40k being a skirmish game and made it Operational level like Epic.

Pretty much 6th d for me. I've never had a problem with it, and don't expect to in the forseeable future.

Exactly; huge problem now is that the rules are still designed for a skirmish/company game, but they encourage operational level. These things are mutually incompatible. A large-scale game needs abstract, concise rules. A skirmish/company game can have more individual rules since you're focused on smaller forces.

Interesting that you bring this point up. When I got into this game in January, was watching people play for a while before this, I never saw this game as a Skirmish game.

To me it has always meant to be a large scale war game, people simply picked the smaller Skirmish games because they were a lot easier to manage and a lot quicker.

Player a 4k match last night, roughly 3.5 hours to finish the damn thing.

I would want GW to simply scratch out the concept of Skirmish for 40k and fully acknowledge that it is a large scale war game. If people want Skirmish, they can go play another game imo, not to be rude or anything.

It would allow players to play the type of game they expect to play, rather than get bogged down by a bunch of drama that is entirely unnecessary.

Nothing more fun than tabling an opponent

Playing a "Large Scale War Game" in 28mm is silly. At least with a 1:1 sci fi game like 40k.

I'd love to play on a basketball court so I can use the 20 foot Basilisk range but that's a bit silly.
