Thank you.. I was having an issue with the fluff. Why would there still be astral claw colours after all this time? But you gave me an idea why. they were reciently found in the warp. lost. And they are really corrupted by Chaos. in transition to change or the taint is more defiling then just painting them red.

I'm going to have to put this in my thread

Retro stuff makes me go all warm inside, and your painting is unreal. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more updates.

The Multi Melta wielding Marine was my favorite model in my old SW army during Rogue Trader. Thanks for showing these; brings back fond gaming memories.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Thanks, everyone! Yeah, I'm obviously a fan of older sculpts, too. It's been a lot of fun trying to update the look to fit in (at least mostly) with the current line/aesthetic.

Thanks

Regarding speed... I take a lot of shortcuts? I dunno, I focus more on the overall effect than super-detail, unless it's for a competition/it's a centerpiece (commander, superheavy, etc.). So, I guess this is basically my tabletop standard...

Well if this is your tabletop quality then I guess I have to go through your gallery

Thanks!

Yeah, as much as I'd love to agonize over every Marine in an army, I tend to save the really fancy jobs for centerpieces and skirmish games because otherwise I'd have an even higher ratio of grey plastic to painted minis.

That would explain why most of my army have no heads or arms lol

At my FLGS they make fun and call it a ghost army

The tiniest of updates, relinked all my images through Dakka, and I'm working on a little more stuff. Unfortunately, the FLGS has been dead slow ordering new primer, so I don't have much more in the way of marines to work on ATM.

Love the paint job. And as a just started playing(4ish years ago) its so cool seeing the retro models, I have two old rhinos and I believe that is the closest I get to physically seeing retro.

An I have seen your captain's shield popping up around everywhere, where is it from?

Thanks! Yeah, those old rhinos were one of the last of the really early kits to get phased out.

The shield is from FW's LE Boarding Marine, which is the same place the mini's torso came from. It was paired with a pretty minimal thunder hammer or the kind of bizarre choice of a combi-melta (not that I'm complaining about alt combi meltas, but I really don't see the point in protecting a guy with a one-shot attack with a storm shield, nor do I see the point in giving a guy with a storm shield no particular punch...).

Another retro piece, with notes on the conversion here.

um. Im not sure if its the photo but im not liking the yellow on the bottom. It looks more like a glow from a light source instead desert dust. The rest of the tank looks amazing

Yeah, I did put it on a bit thicker than I intended to, but it's mostly just brightened a bit in the photo.

Ya I figured it was mostly photo work. My reds never show properly in photos.

Have you ever tried weathering powders?

I got one to try, but it's been sitting in a pile of hobby stuff for like two years now...

Maybe I should get on that.

Thanks! A few of the old minis were things I just couldn't bear to part with when I sold off my old collection, but they're mostly just from trading here and on Bartertown. Either way, lots of refurbishing was involved in about 90% of them...

Outstanding work, please keep it up!

I love reading Badab War Blogs. Do you mainly paint, or play with them too?

That is an unusual combination of an old Razorback turret on a new hull. The old turret does not look quite as overly large on the new hull.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.
