The minis look good, I think the risen warrior is my favorite model in EFT. It just looks so good in all the right ways.

Yeah, I really like the Risen Warrior, I'm very tempted to get more Risen and convert a couple of them. I was originally thinking of making my Taisen list The Fallen, Zebolg, and 14 Thralls, but I'm tempted now to swap 4-6 of them for Risen now.

I'd also like to note I'm referencing your own Risen whilst working on mine(I blatantly stole the black belt from yours). Any suggestions on rusting the armor?

This update's pretty much gonna be a mass photo dump.

Green!

Purple! Yes, one has Hulk pants.

Purple highlights!

Brown and blacking in some areas!

Brown highlights!

Different Brown!

More different Brown!

Grey! Also, Yellow!

Yellow highlights! Also, evil glowy red eyes!

Crystals painted blue, goggles and sword get steel.

Crystal highlights on the Thralls and the pommel and cross guard of the Risen with some work.

Everyone's got their final washes and highlights and their bases edged.

And a group shot of the party so far.

I still have to paint the Beastman and his traps, but I've been saving him because I'm not sure where I want to go with him yet. Not sure if I want him to be purple or grey yet, but I'm leaning towards purple or meeting in the middle and doing a greyish mottled purple.

Well I'll take the inspiration as a big compliment! Thanks.

I honestly think any weathering done on the armor would fit in. Just because it'll really push home that this guy died in battle some time ago and hasn't had good luck since.

I'm calling him "done" for now until I can get some weathering powders. Gonna check today to see if anyone local has any(as well as look for stuff for making some objectives) then I'll order it online if not.

Also, anyone got any good ideas on Crystal Shards? I'm wondering if actual quartz crystals may be too heavy and too much work to attach to a base...

Your party is looking pretty nice so far! I particularly like how you did the Dark Knight. And I'm in agreement with KC: Weathering powders are exactly what the Risen need for that extra oomph

For the bases I've made in the past for OTL, I've cut my own crystals out of an old block of greenstuff, then painted it. Its considerably more work, but gets a solid look.

Alternatively, the ones Cyp linked you look pretty nice, and have the benefit of being clear. You might also look into decorative glass/plastic shards at craft stores, normally in the same aisle as bead crafts. One user on here, IceAngel, uses stuff like that for his marine bases as "Ice" crystals.

Thanks! Luckily, I found some Tamiya weathering powders locally, so he'll be nice and rusted soon.

For now, I went with some acrylic decorative fillers. It took a while, but I was able to find some that were "jagged" and random shapes rather than all the round or classic diamond cut ones that are much more common. Also bound some bead/craft stuff for other objectives and decorations:

I've also got some bases for them. I was originally gonna use some extra Warhams bases I had around, but I couldn't find them. I did however find cast off pieces from GW modular movement trays that were in irregular shapes(25mm 3x3, 25mm 5x1, etc.) that I cut apart into 2 50's and 10 25's.

A good cheap alternative to weathering powders, believe it or not, is make up. Like women's make up. You can easily crush it back into a powder and since it's make up, you'll have far more variety.

So Plat, now that you have a bunch of models painted do you have any regular 10C lists in mind?

It sounds like you like the Thralls. What commands do you like with them?

No regular lists, but the Dark Knight, Dark Priest, and Dragoon tend to be in the majority of my lists. Lucky Logician can verify, I tend to play the villain/anti-hero types and forces. He tends towards the good guys, which worked out really well for us when we played CMGs together as we generally wanted different pieces and thus could split a case or two without issue. We even planned our respective Miasma War pledges much the same way to get the largest spread of available models we could that we didn't already own.

As for Thralls, it depends on what I have them in the list for. I find that Mana Shield is a fairly common one I bring on at least one(many times coupled with the other Passive) for a cheap tank/meat shield to screen the Dark Knight. Once the Fallen and Zebolg come out, I plan on mass fielding them, which should give me a better feel for each combination.

LuckyLogician drove up recently so we could properly break in the new board. Got a bunch of shots from the first game, forgot to take pictures of our second.

I was gonna do a proper batrep, but it's been too long now(I got a little sidetracked by my son being born, terrible excuse, I know). I don't remember the gear or commands , but here's the parties:

P4:
Dark Knight
Dark Priest
Dragoon [M]
Pugilist
Gunsmith [H]

LL:
Sorcerer
Rhapsodist [F]
Archer
Squire x2
Adept x2

We rolled Glass Cannon.

That board looks great. The building turned out nicely.

I somehow hadn't thought of using the miasma thrall as a meat shield. They should work great as cover for higher value model.

Near future? Probably not. She's sitting there cause she and the Bandit needed some holes filled and so wasn't able to get into the mass priming that happened yesterday due to Green Stuff drying.

I think the Mandragora is next, then I'm gonna play it by ear.

The Deep Troll was going to be next, but I got a bit over zealous applying his primer and base coat and so he needed a bath...

Thanks! I was going to do the armor more to fit in with the rest of my models, but figured that as the Black Kiwi rider is supposed to be ancient that his armor would most likely pre-date steel. I could've claimed it to be iron like Japanese Tanko, but bronze stands out more and makes him a bit more unique among the party as a whole.

Got a big one today! Part of if has been spoiled if you're on the Facebook group.

Up first, we got the Deep Troll. No in progress shots, though.

Tried out a new spray color named "Lagoon" as the base for his color.

Next up the the Kappa. Yes, I know about the mold line.

First shade of green.

Second shade.

Second shad from the back.

Scales!

The dome.

Starting the eyes.

Eyelight.

And finally, the Mandragora!

Main body colors were done using nothing but washes over the white. A little bit of red on the ankles, yellow up top, and a custom orange made by mixing the two worked between, with very light applications on the head for the recesses just to define the head's details better.

Start of the green.

Highlighting the green.

Next stage of the green.

Starting the wood.

Lightening the sharpened wood of the weapon.

Eyes!

Completed shots:

And the three together:

Next on the table will probably be the Beastman I bought a while back and the Gargoyle Demonite.

MOAR WORK!

Gargoyle Demonite's up first. Decided that my Dark Priest used two types of stone to build the body for visual variety.

Next up, the Beastman Trap tokens.

And a start of the Beastman himself. Did a light drybrush of a lighter grey on the grey primer to give even more variety for the color from the wash.
