It's a bullet magnet and you got sucked into it by firing all your AT shots into it.

It's big and bulky and moves fast...but only has two shots base and four in CC. The fact your opponent took upgrades for it meant it was a huge points sink to the point you could have effectively avoided it and gone after the rest of the army.

Viable tactics against it are having units to tarpit it if your Codex has such units, weapons against MC such as Poison, Grav, Fleshbane, high Strength weapons, or outmanoeuvring it if your army has the mobility to do so.
