I don't know how your group feels about lords of war. It seems like many people are on the fence, but with the new Space Wolves release I imagine that more people will get used to them. Anyways, you could always try and throw Ghazzghul Thraka at the swarmlord. Make sure you call his WAAAGH for a 2+ inv. save and then charge the swarmlord and his guard. If you bring along even a small group of 3 MegaNobz you should eat the unit. Ghazzie challenges and tanks the swormlord and then the 3 Meganobz and Ghazzie eat the tyrant guard on the first turn and then the swarmlord during the tyranid turn.

Tyranids really should have army-wide rules to ignore terrain penalties when charging, just because theyre basically all Beasts without actually being a beast. Grenades for them make no sense, but it hurts them so bad to not have them since they attack at init 1 if they charge through it.

Quite frankly, i look at tyranids with my orks and have the same feeling i get when i look at my orks with my tau. I just dont see how they can beat us without some severe out-played tactics or damn good luck. Just like my casual, non-tailored Tau list will crush ANYTHING my orks bring...far as i know/have experienced anything Tyranids bring my casual orks will crush since i shoot more, clear hordes better, krump bugs better, and out-range him with what isnt charging.
Lobbas will eat gaunts alive. 6 Lobbas are what i bring every game, i dont bring more because i lack the models atm. They tend to eat marines throughout the game, and if im against 5+ armor units or worse....its just sickening how fast they clear the numbers lol. Opens the doors for my MANz missiles or warbikers to charge things of value and not get tarpitted.

I second the Lobbas. I got to play a game with them the other day, first game where I had Lobbas. (Using converted Civil War cannons and adding plasticard to give them blast shields and orky looks). I played IG and my Lobbas were wiping out his gunline in chunks. I just wish I had thought enough ahead to bring more PKs to take out the 8 tanks he brought *eye roll*

As a Tyranid mainer, with a very high win ratio, it's a rare situation where I bring more than 350 pts of infantry.
2 min size squads of Termagants for mandatory troops for 40 each, 1 Venomthrope for 45, and 100 pts of Warriors + 120 of Biovores for Living Artillery. That comes to 345 pts of infantry.

Not including the 80 pts of terms, that's 2x 3man Multiwound Infatry units and one 45 point Multiwound.

I think putting too much stake into Flamers and Blasts is a sure fire way to hurting your match up against competitive Nids. Skyblight may be an exception with its Gargoyle squads, but Skyblight isn't that great this edition and there is far better things to put in your list to counter Skyblight than Templates and Blasts lol.

Just my advice. I actually run more infantry than some other lists considering Living artillery almost triples my infantry count. AT will be good against Nids every game. You really shouldn't have trouble moving the swarms no matter you bring, and the MCs will always be the main threat regardless.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.
