Well, I think GH in Pods are the best allied troop units in the game.
They have been and they will be in the near future.

DP with GK Purifiers for first turn disco inferno? Awesome.

Podding down special weapons teams, Eviersor assassin, and Various sisters comes to mind as well

Sisters do it better with Heavy Flamer Rets (rending HF) with a combi or two.

Podding down special weapons teams,

This has a potential to be nasty. 3 Demo Charges on turn 1.

Yep, they're listed as Fast Attack.

I mean, is there any special restrictions like "space wolves unit only"?

Nope. 10 models or 1 Dreadnought. Keep in mind the main rulebook restricts that to infantry though.

Well orks got trukks as a fast attack choice so it isn't improbable that wolves get drop pods as well, although it sounds very silly. Ogryns could also be a good unit to put in a drop pod.

Wait...you're comparing Trukks to Drop Pods?

I don't think 'because orks got it...' argument is really...well...logical. I'm surprised they put Trukks in the FA slot. Wasn't a whole lot of point to do so...since...they are paper thin as heck. Unless it was more excuse for us to try to run more Trukks...though 4 is usually too many as it is. More access to drop pods is annoying to me. Perhaps just the one thing that leaves me salty as an Ork player, is almost NO access to DS or effective ways to get our own units THAT close on Turn 1, yet every other army seems to have some good access to DS one way or another. Even with Ork suppliment, we have to ROLL to try to get some DS, so it's HIGHLY unreliable, and often times not worth bothering with.

They weren't comparing Trukks to Drop Pods stats and rules wise. They were just talking about how they're both listed under the fast attack slot now whereas before Drop Pods were only listed under Dedicated Transport.

My two cents: There will be no dedicated-only vehicles in future books, unless the format changes. The current codex format is a move to single page 'dataslates', complete with an icon for what battlefield role the unit takes. Note how there is no icon for a Dedicated Transport. Also note how SW Rhinos and Razorbacks are also FA, and how Trukks for Orks are similarly FA.

Just need an HQ and two troops to get 3 fast attack drop pods+wolf troop dedipods and have your very own deep strike assault.list with any Imperium army.

Put mephiston in it.

I've always loved Mephiston, but when it comes to blood angels I would rather army whole army was drop podding dread's. Now for the low low cost of some stinky wolf people Mephiston can come play too.

I'm more than a little irritated here. Not having the book in hand yet, it certainly seems like Wolves are going to outclass marines in every capacity short of a few combos (which end up better when supplemented by Wolves).

Well it's just cuz they're a 7th book and the previous book didn't have that yet. Kind of like how DA were ridiculously good compared to other Marines when they came out, but were very quickly outclassed once C:SM got an update.

See, I'd agree, but the SW dex doesn't cater to 7th edition tactics. It simply caters to raw firepower. Simply put, I believe wolves can throw more dice per model at comparable strength than marines. This was true before, with the two older books, and the facelifts both codices received I believe just put wolves ahead again. I agree, DA are in a terrible spot. Vice of being a pilot book for both the edition and all future power armor books. But if this trend continues, I expect BA and GK to outclass SW. Seems power armor gets better with every print.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Power armor gets better but they still have to deal with the elite model(respectively) syndrome in a shooting game.

Also I already hammered out my 5 pod Space wolves with SM allies list. Its pretty mean and I like it.
