DarthSpader wrote:the restriction to the list would be only necros and zombie/ghoul units. so lots of corpse carts, maybe some ghouls, but huge amounts of zombies. use magic to snipe enemy characters, then grind down combats with static combat res from ranks, etc. ghouls can provide smash power. but no skeles, (or variants) and no vamps, or such units. i think it **might** work.....if you had enough extra zombie models. it would be a blast to play tho, win or lose.
I love this idea!

Because of its negligibnle cost, the ability to raise more and the fact they never run away the humble Zombies are a strong contender for the title of 'best unit' in the whole of Warhammer.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Yeah. Take 2 main blocks of zombies with prince/king, and then bunking behind them with 2-3 more blocks.
Round it out with support with some real units; you could build giant zombies (ubshati) to round out the theme.

Forbidden Lore, go with Lore of Light. Give your Zombies WS10 (the ASF buff would only cancel ASL), and then spam Lore of Beasts for Wyssan's Wildform.
WS10 S4 T4 (or even 5 if you're lucky enough) zombies that mass resurrect... You'll wreck shop.

@anasac: But then why bother going with Zombies? Just use real units, like Grave Guard or Crypt Horrors or whatever.
My Plague Monks--which are mere 7pt models--are doing about 17 wounds to a zombie unit without any Augments or Hexes in their favor. A Blender-Lord would do about 6.5 wounds to the Monks (assuming ASF and S6+).
I see how it can work, but it also seems pretty risky.
The zombie list I faced never charged my chaff. He just magic'd it off the board. And now that Vampires can field the Casket, that'll be even worse.
When you're facing a literal wall of Unbreakable, regenerating units, you can focus on one flank. But if you don't break through that turn, you're getting surrounded.
He couldn't win with that stupid list, but he never lost.
@HawaiiMatt: that's...pretty legit math, back there. Really brings into perspective how tough it is to pull this sort of thing off.
And a Prince does sound like an excellent idea.
@wfr12n: I don't think that would work. So, first, I need a bunch of casters for Invocation, to keep this army alive. Then, I need at least two more for those other Lores? No thanks. I'll just re-roll to Hit and to Wound with the Lore of Vampires.
Plus, Corpse Carts will let me give my Zombies ASF.
