And err... Once you've started buying Infinity miniatures, how are you supposed to stop yourself? They all look so tempting.

You run out of factions

Or AVA, but that's flexible - I tend to exceed my AVA by ~150% in case I want to field multiples of a given variant. No, local tournaments do not enforce WYSIWYG.

Nah, then realize you have your priorities ed up because there's no way you're gonna paint it all to a good standard, and start spending money on more important things than little mandollies.

"What to expect"

In my demo game recently, I was struggling with the dice rolls!

It's not, say, 4+ on 1D6 to hit, it's roll UP TO your guys BS.

So if you have BS 16, you need to roll 16 or less to hit. Does that sound right, Infinity vets?!

Armour saves are taken using the AS value as the base then rolling equal to or over it.

All on D20s.

Basically, forget everything you know about rolling dice for GW stuff

The dice rolling mechanic seems very similar to the jepardy mechanic in cards. I was thinking of it being like Blackjack or 21? You want to get as close to 21 as possible, 21 is the best, but if you go over then you're busted.

*CLICK*

I finally got it to sink in watching BoW's Infinity Week, but if it had been explained like that from the off, I'd have had it down much sooner.

Top work

Definitely, describing it as 'Pontoon' or 'Blackjack' is a great way to explain to people how the dice rolling mechanic works - use it all the time.

How true this is. A wash or two was the thing that took me from almost striping my first Infinity figs earlier to actually being pretty damn happy with them. Good advice!

Agreed - got through quite a few line infantry just through using washes and drybrushing. The strong detail on the miniatures makes it a great way of getting good results quickly.
