Hmm, I think I'd rather rely on massed autocannon and multilaser fire to take down transports and light tanks, and then have some veteran or storm trooper squads with meltguns to take down heavy armour.

Boom! Leman Russ Commander

Selym wrote: vipoid wrote: tankboy145 wrote:Now if we take away pask what is the best anti tank russ? Pretty sure the vanquisher unless I'm missing something. I only mention this as someone may not want to take a tank commander.
The Vanquisher is almost certainly the best... but I'm still not sure it's very good at its job.
I mean, even without the sponsons, it's still pretty damn expensive for a measly 2 shots at BS3 - neither of which are AP1.
Mmm. It is rather disappointing.
Still, when in doubt, you can always go to the old IG standby, and bring in some artillery. Or for a more modern approach, a Vendetta, to do the job more efficiently.
I don't recall that being the topic of this thread. Yes there are other options but artillery will not outright kill another vehicle like a vanquisher can. Also not all player like using flyers. But the topic of the thread from the op is that he is looking for an anti tank russ.

It's a tangent related to AT killing power, and they can be used to support the MBT's of the army. So it's sort of on topic.

Longtime Dakkanaut

As much as the math monsters will say again and and again, I love my Vanquishers. Yeah, I know it's unreasonable, but they've performed so well as of late, whereas my Punishers are so actively scary that my opponent makes them priority one.
If you want a reliable amount of firepower, Punishers deliver, for sure. If you want to try out different variants, the Vanquisher with Pask is straight nasty as well (if a bit less inclined to murder everything).
