WIP, liquid green stuff layer one.

very green looking but 1-2 layers to go for ground and finsihing the barricades proper.

Wow that looks... a very good base prep work not quite seen anything like it before (never being that adventurous with bases with my models since before my Nurgle Lord).

That has made me now want to enhance my future bases and perhaps make some diorama style setting for some of my other bases

First time i have gone this brave on basing. kind of making it up as it goes along abit il admit!

most of older ones have simple painted bases in a naval grey and colourd rim..

Aha the "Winging it" technique lol I use that for 99% of my green stuff work and hope for best x)

lucky chaos are flexible when it comes to green stuff creations. but your base looks very good for what it would most likely become like muddy ground.

churned ground, not so much mud but like the gun crew has been there abit, bit dirty, mud and dust filled in gaps, the desrt sand is dirty, lumpy, and not pristine and flat.

Ah I understand, remember on the guardsmen to add the mud effects on their shins / very lowest part of thighs to give it a good feel of them

I know my brother collects Astra Militarum but he isn't brave enough to attempt custom bases and such of yet, but I'm working him into trying it for some of his newer models.

My cammo effects are very much like it, dirty, splodgey, but il make sure to add some dirt to uniforms. argellion earth or liquid green stuff thinly added to boots maybe to make more thick and textured than just paint.

Ah that will look very good in effects on their boots mud does clump up in the ridges of their boots (if they have any on the soles) so would gather and pile up over time.

Now that is taking real shape just remember to go over every green section and may end up coming out really well effected as if mud had being forced in front of it from it being moved / placed down.

So Updates, the first set of bits and pieces is added.

2 water canteens
1 helmet
1 Auto cannon spare mag
1 morter stand

to go 1-2 crew depending on room, rucksacks, maybe a 2nd helmet, and binoculars + whatever i find in mean time.

Wow that is one lived in place, looks better then most places in city I live next to lol

If you built a diorama on that theme with all the complete models (in that time when all have being done) that could win awards

Well it's got ernough kit piled up for 4 crew

Ment to, like been out there a while, area is quiet so rifles stacked up, tools piled up, helmet hung on a post and rest of crew are chilling back while one guy mans the autocannon and is on watch.

lets just hope that the one on the lascannon is not short sighted lol

Aye doing larger scale places is something I'm aiming to start moving into to making better scenery for larger scale battles and things

If for my Chaos, It will just be a huge graveyard style battle field and hills, scattered with bodies and such.

But that base is a very good stepping stone to work on in that direction

May try hand at few barricades though, sure I have some bike bases losing around :-)

Sounds like you got few bases to spare, wish had that at this end seeming to be a few short of normal 20mm bases lol

If you can master how to create barricades out of least 4 different materials or objects, then scenery barricades will be a doddle for you

Spare, about 5 40mm, 5-6 bike I think and 50-60:slotted 25mm

Def not short, I'll need to stop by nearby gaming shop for random bits though. They have small random tubs of bits for every army :-)

I remember my one and only time in a GW store, they were quite unsocial to me, rude and pushy :( but the store closed round two years back so won't be seeing them again.

Dang, I got 9 terminator sized bases spare but no smaller bases as far as I know, unless my brother has moved them all into one of the boxes in room where paint lol

odd, one in Lincoln and Nottingham i found very good with me, great staff, can have a chat, even gave me tools n some spuperglue to fix my bag one time when zip broke in town.

I got them from there but lso a huge bag of 3rd party small ones too, 1 something for 25-30 slot bases. bargin

Aha, fair dues there better to focus getting the additional parts done up ready to be added onto it so you know how to create the effects of any mud being splashed up and such.

Well I know one thing for certain, no one will ever head shot your Catachen lol termie looks good and the barricades look very good so far, good layout really looks like they were makeshift made or found by Astra Militarum forces

Hence the WIP. Heads need doing but im waiting till i have half the squad done.

also there the hardest part..... don't wanna ruin all my hard work with a bad finish. or they already where and so tough they do not need heads

and with baridades well bit of time with clippers n scalpal and they look nice and worn/scarred.
