I still find it funny But then I find lots of tired things funny I still laugh at 'but then I took an arrow to the knee' jokes. I like to laugh

Anyway, I had a CompuServe account in grade school and remember a time when a 28.8 modem and a house with more than 1 phone line were godsends. Count yourself lucky if Over 9000 is the oldest of your old man internet memories.

Worst I ever had to deal with was whatever they were using in 95 (56k? I don't even remember I was too young then to know XD)

There's usually one video game I'll be playing with frequency. As of now it's Hearthstone.
Writing, on and off, if I feel like it.
Trying to get into the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, but the mobility and technique demands for it are high. I'm spending way too much time stretching.

The only way we can ever solve anything is to look in the mirror and find no enemy

I also had to walk to school uphill, and then walk uphill on the way home. Snow may or may not have been involved. Also, AOL CDs.

Farthest I ever went was a 20 minute drive to a bus stop then a 30 minute ride to base in England. But I spent most school years on base and you never had to walk far to get to school on base (if you were in officer quarters anyway).

AOL CDs

Which brings up an old hobby I no longer do;

They just don't send these things in the mail as much as they used to.

I recall when a big concern was the cord on your land line phone not being long enough for you to reach the clicky-channel switch on your B&W TV while you were talking on the phone.

Did you actually do that? That's pretty well done.

This summer, mountain biking has become my obsession and only hobby. I've gone from being a fatass barely able to ride up to the top of my street (I live at 8300 ft) to where I've now ridden nearly 200 miles, entirely on singletrack in the Colorado rockies!

By far the most rewarding hobby I've gotten into in many years, my body has gotten a lot stronger and my endurance gains have been remarkable. Plus, I've explored places I haven't been to.

Last painting and gaming I've done was in spring, but with winter approaching I'm sure I'll get back into it.

Ouch, 50 minutes sucks. I think the longest "commute" I ever had was 15 minutes of a circuitous bus ride, which was quickly replaced by 2 minutes of my dad dropping me off on the way to work.

I had finally forgotten what it was like to spend the night at my grandparents' place, and you had to bring it surging back.

As it turns out, nearly all my hobbies are gaming-related:

- miniatures games
- board games
- roleplaying games
- video games

Outside of the "usual" table top stuff, I spend a fair amount of time studying the Game of Go.

I also like comics but I swore off monthly issues last year so I only read them once trades come out. Dunno if that counts as a hobby.

TBH gaming is more than hobby enough for me.

How the heck did you guys/girls deal with with the piss poor quality molds of 40K when they came out...

Received a whole lot of old school 40K mini's with like four layer of paints on them

Cleaned them up and were glad they were higher quality then some other manufacturers (genadier)

I used to have a 300 baud acoustic modem. The kind you dialed the number then put it in the special cradle. There was a noticeable delay before each letter appeared on the screen. Getting a 1,200 or a 2,400 connection later was a godsend, and once we got rates that included a “K” it was miraculous.

I’m a little light on non-gameing hobbies. I do PnP RPG gaming twice a week, computer gaming more then I should, and miniature painting/playing when I can. I am an amateur foodie though, and putter around in the kitchen doing fun things.

In the past I’ve done skiing, SCUBA diving, mountain climbing, and more out-doors kinda things, but not recently.

An acoustic modem, wow! Yeah, my dad had one of those, but I just barely missed the transition to have had actually been using one. Hard to believe that we've come so far in such a relatively short period of time.

This thread is making me want to change my voice mail message to be modem carrier tones just to freak out anyone who calls me.

Most of my non gaming hobbies are outside stuff. I do a lot of tracking and building random shelters/fire. Basically survivalist stuff. Got into trapping last summer but it's not something I'm really enthused about. But on the plus side I can make fire using bow drills and other various caveman techniques.
