Speaking of, anyone else seeing the next FE supplement (when new tau codex will eventually happen) to no longer make troop crisis suits, and instead will have an elite-heavy FoC?

Actually, I haven't seen ANYTHING that says you NEED to take Farsigt as an HQ. If you want to take the Eight as bodyguards for him, yeah - but I found literally NO wording saying you HAVE to take Farsight himself.

Read the FAQ. you must have farsight himself as your warlord to take any of the eight.

I think what will wind up happening is FE will have a special force org that gains special rules sorta like how SW/DE have special Force org charts.

Charging these suits is not exactly easy. Even after they shoot they get a thrust move and then assaulters have to make it through 2 d3 S6 AP2 hits.
Then, if it does get stuck, between the hit and run and the nova power you have a 7/9 chance of escaping the combat anyway (usually leaving the assaulting unit in a good spot to get shot). On top of that, if you place it between your fire warriors and your enemy (where they do wonders) you get the standard tau everyone in 6" overwatch action.
Then, knowing the suit will arrive from reserve next turn, you place your homing beacon strategically so that when the suit drops it's exactly in the right place.

The 4-wounds thing is risky but this guy is a lot of fun to use.
