At the risk of over-lamenting this thread, the Lamenters are so lovable not because they are the greatest, the meanest or the most unkillable. Rather, they are remarkable because they are so flawed. The Lamenters have the Black Rage *and* luck so terrible that other chapters flee battle to avoid fighting ALONGSIDE them.

Yes, They do win battles sometimes, but have lost dearly to help others in nearly all their fluff. But... They don't flee. They don't flake out. They won't attack those who are their enemies but once were their friends. They would die to a man to save human life. These are the men that the Emperor dreamt of making!

Dark Angels definitely. Unlike most other Chapters, they have an actual story that's very interesting, and well, they're going somewhere. The other Chapters meanwhile are more like static characters that don't change, where-as the Dark Angels have a plot. Which is really rare in 40k.

Besides my own? The Black Templars. There is no problem that cannot be solved with enough angry Teutonic Space Knights thrown at it.

I voted for Blood Angels for reasons already addressed, but I think the Angels Encarmine are actually my favourite. Because theyre just like the Blood Angels but their Death Company and Sanguinary Guard are white. Which is kind of badass.

Salamanders, because they're basically the only "good guys" in 40k.

Relictors! Staunch loyalists with a penchant for using the weapons of the Enemy against them. What could possibly go wrong!?!

Alpha Legionnaires by M41 are not loyalists. They're heavily mutated from the effects of Chaos, have fielded cult troops multiple times, work with the Black Legion, and are actively trying to destroy the Imperium.

Salamanders. They're one of the few chapters that actually gives a darn about the common imperial citizen, and not just on an abstract level but as actual human beings.

I also like that they are master artisans who value creation.

Their love of people is one of my favorite things about them. I love the fact that they would risk everything and disobey orders to save humans

Salamanders, although Space Wolves are a close second. They both use their strength to protect those weaker than themselves, and put the needs of the Imperium's citizenry ahead of their own personal glory.

The Fists of Dorn (Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists and Black Templar) will always be my favorite chapters. I chose the Imperial Fists as my favorite since they are the original chapter and I love 3rd Company.

Haha, just kidding. Still, their fluff is ridiculously powerful.

Tough Traitorous Guardsman

whilst i have a homebrew chapter, the steel guard, my favourite "real" chapter are imperial fists. i read ian watson's space marine when i was 12 and the weird techno mystic junker masochist stuff has stayed with ever since.

if i was going to pick another known chapter to paint, i'd go for lamenters, chacharodons, silver skulls, or minotaurs. all chapters with a bit of interesting fluff but plenty of room for interpretation.

i also am building an alpha legion army. some of my alpha legion are indistinguishable from loyalists. this is deliberate
