Well, now you know, so that excuse doesn't fly.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

We know because we have access to this board and people who have access to the new versions of the books. There are alot of players that don't have such access, So it is a problem.

That's when someone who DOES know pulls a book out of their bag or off the store wall and shows them. Then they know, and then the excuse doesn't work. Ignorance is not an excuse, not in a social game like 40K.

This is really something that Tournie organisers should take into account. Information packs for the Tournie should include details on which versions of the Codexes are being used, which will make players aware of the updates.

For friendly games, it really doesn't matter a great deal.

You are not understanding what we are saying Sutekh. I understand that your friends and the people ant the tourney will show you what the problem is. The Complaint I have is that GW keeps selling books that are out of date after they have put out a newer version, and then they don't provide you with a way to see what the changes are to the book you bought without buying another brand new book. Around the first of the year the game shop I frequent had a couple of new players pick up Chaos. Both copies were purchased Direct from GW by the shop at about the same time. One player got a second printing and another got a third printing. We would never have even known their was that sort of problem if I hadn't asked the question I asked on here, and had someone refer me to third printing. Things like that is what has me annoyed at GW. They don't offer anyway of updating the old info without the player buying a new verision of the Codex. Not alot of players can afford to do that, especially with the outrageous prices charged.

Yeah... Hey, you know what they should do? They should incorporate all the changes into a single book, with all the wargear and weapons in it, so people can update all of their codexes at once. They could call it, oh I don't know, the 'Wargear' book, or something...

This is part of the reason I never go heavy handed into a game. I have played a lot of 40k and Im still learning. I guess GW is just trying to teach us to be open and talk about our differences........ BWAHAHAHAHAHHA... nah they are just cheap and realize once in a while the screwed up.

No excuse to not know the rules since you can always pick up the Wargear manual, which is a pretty damn fine book, even with 3+ save termies!

Not all the rules changes are in the Wargear book either, and that is just as bad for the arguement I was trying to make. You have to "BUY" something else to play your army besides the rules, the codex, and all the figures. Not all Gamers have money pouring out their ears, some have to scrimp and save to buy the basics of their army, In our local tourneys we usually let slide the requirement to own a rule book for the players who are just getting started. Rather have them playing than not.

Then those people are going to have to suck it up and take the word of the people who do have the money to purchase the supplements required to play the game.

I mean seriously, it's not the end of the world. If you have a Khornate prince modeled with a Glaive and wings, speed, etc. and you show up at a tournie, you just have to play that the Glaive is, say a Dark Blade or some other equivilant weapon.

The rule has been changed and it is in print in both the newer printing of the codex and the wargear book. If you can't afford either of those (or choose not to purchase them) then you're just going to have to be a little adaptable when people with that information show you that you've been playing incorrectly.

No.

Big.

Whoop.

So instead of making an errata or a chapter approved for 2005, they just force you to buy a $20(US) book?
Well, that's nice of them. I liked chapter approved books, and they stopped making them.

Uhm...what is your point midnight? The Wargear manual is a good compilation, and the Chapter Approved books weren't ever free!

If GW had bothered to make an Errata for their codex it would have eliminated this entire arguement.

You have to "BUY" something else to play your army besides the rules, the codex, and all the figures.

Only if you want to keep up with the latest rules.

If you're just playing with friends, or in small local tournaments, that's really not so essential. Buy what you can, and worry about the rest when it arises.

If you're playing in bigger tournaments, then yes, you should make an effort to keep up.

Having said that, it would be far better customer service for GW to release PDF updates when they edit a codex. But given that they can't even release FAQs for books that have been out for more than a year, it's not likely to happen.

good one beef. Cheaply. Oh wow that was a good laugh. Thanks I needed that. It's dumb I know, but as long as people will still buy, they will still do it.

My point was that the Chapter Approved books were a good deal. You had the errata AND you had a ton of extra stuff that was actually worth the cost of the book. Making the errata essentially free and enhancing the game. The Wargear book is just that, wargear. No VDR rules, Armored Company, fluff, etc... It's not even accurate as has been poitned out and someone is compiling a list of.

The Wargear book is just that, wargear.

Well, it also includes the vehicle firepoint and access point information that was left out of the rulebook.

It's not even accurate as has been poitned out and someone is compiling a list of.

It's more accurate than many people seem to think. That list has accumulated a bit of a bundle of missing items and summary errors (how many GW publications don't have summary errors ) but so far (and we're almost through all the codexes) only 2 actual rules errors.

That, and a slew of updates as long as your arm. If you have a really long arm.
