Casual Necrons vs Mechdar in pure Maelstrom. Do the crons stand a chance?
Yes, I've got enough "trickery" in my army and experience in my tactics to take this one.
Draw. My experience plus the element of surprise is enough to match up with how good mechdar is in Maelstrom missions.
No, Eldar is just too good in Maelstrom missions, especially against a Necron list that isn't fully optimized.

Great batrep Jy2. Thanks for posting, as always an enjoyable read when I am bored at work!

Thanks. I swear, probably half of all these posts are done from work for most people. I am guilty of doing that myself. I guess that's one way to stay productive at work.

Ha ha, very true - I do all my Batreps and posting from work too which either means I am very efficient at my job, or am going to get sacked pretty soon.....

Another great write up, thanks jy2. Personally I like the way you write up your reports - sure there is a streak of confidence in there, but I don't think it is arrogance on your behalf. At the end of the day, it's your report, written from your perspective, in the style you feel most comfortable with. To try and tell someone it is 'misleading' of 'false' solely on the basis of what is essentially a semantic argument seems a bit strange to me.

If in doubt, frag it out...

Hi mate sorry if this has been asked before but did you modify the Maelstrom cards? I have read a couple of your battle reports and it seems the cards have been stripped down?

Cheers for the reports as always! best thing to read on the interwebs IMO

hey JY2 - always find your reports informative as well as fun to read. Not sure what all that kerfuffle was earlier, but I guess we all get different stuff from the game and all have different standards / points of view on lists etc.

Anyway. Just since it has come up in discussion here - what do you do when facing triple wriathknights with multiple serpents? I'm at a tournament this weekend (my list is up in the list section) with my Combatcrons and I am facing down 3 WKs and 5 Serpents in the first game (round 1 listings have been published). I am not worried about dealing with the serpents, except that they will be bodyguarded by the 3 WKs!

How would you approach this scenario?

Keep the faith!

Awesome batrep - love your battles (even if they are not all Tyranids )

Do those objectives that say 1/4, 2/5 count as two objectives? If so, how well does that work?

No, we used the regular Maelstrom deck of cards.

It seemed stripped down because we were playing the hidden objectives (the one where you don't have to show the objective until you score it). We both discarded objectives that we couldn't score (no idea what they were because I didn't keep track of them) and only revealed the ones that we could. That's probably why it appeared to be "stripped down".

Honestly, I'm not sure what I would do against triple WK's. That is actually a very tough matchup for my crons. Usually, it takes the combined efforts of 2 types of Lords with MSS for me to take down even 1 WK. 3 WK's would be problematic indeed. Guess, I'd just have to tarpit them with the wraiths as well and try to sweep-attack a WK before assaulting with my bargelord. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy answer for this.

There's no special reason game-wise for the objectives (they still count as 1). I just labeled them that way depending on what type of scenario I play.

For pure Maelstrom missions, they will be my Objectives #4-6.

In the BAO Scouring mission, each player gets Objectives #1-3. So for the BAO format, they are just Objectives #1-3.

I already have objectives that are actually marked #1-3. These objectives are used to in conjunction with those.

Hm. Yeah. I was thinking two overlords on one wk to try to kill it and a wraith squad on each of the others...
