One intact stc device and you can build anything.
Basneblades, arcane weapons the power not seen since daot, power armour, volkite weapons, anything and everything.
Impirium in short order would go from dieing to golden age.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

The Golden Throne was not built by human hands, that we know of, it was simply dug up out of the ground on Holy Terra.
Who built it, why, and for what purpose, however, is not known.
First time i've heard that The Golden Throne wasn't made by Humans.
What is "built" by human hands is the entirety of the device in its current form, which includes the Infinity Gate and the defensive dais and and its power feeds and all those kinds of sub-functions.... but the chair itself, the actual sitting-down-on-it part, was dug up in Turkey. Whether its DAOT, even older, Xenos, Divine, Who-the-Hells-Knows-esque... we're not told.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

That's interesting. Where can I read more about that? Is that from a codex or Black Library?
Also the golden throne is now in the Himalayas, correct? I assumed the emperor was physically near the astronomicon but I guess he doesn't have to be right near it to steer the thing. Just how I always pictured it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Wyzilla wrote: Silverthorne wrote:STCs are interesting. The fluff is portrayed like it's one minute till midnight for humanity, but really it's one a breath away from the right humans finding an STC and then soul-raping every chaos worshipper or xenos in the galaxy with the strength D range infinity assault 500 AP 1 sidearms that every guardsman will be issued.
Or they find a semi-complete one capable of mass producing Titans or battleships. Were they to find the STC behind the Phalanx, the universe would be the Imperium's oyster.
This is true as well. Although I've always thought from the (limited) background we have on the Imperial Navy that the main reason the IN was such a dominant force was due to the fact that the Lunar Class cruiser is a hell of a good ship that can be built quickly in pretty poorly equipped shipyards.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

The history of the Golden Throne is probably now found in some WD or CJs that are a decade-plus old.
And, yes, the Astronomican is in the Himalayas, in the "Chamber of the Astronomican" (the Imperium is not particularly creative when it comes to names).
The Imperial Palace itself apparently covers half a continent and is visible from space.

For all those saying STC's, remember the Grey Knight Omnibus? They found an intact Titan STC (granted it was fallen to chaos, but it was whole and functioning, and dwarfed all of the hundred other titans) and took it out with a few GK's and a meltabomb. This shows two things: STC's are not incorruptible and can be tainted to be used by chaos, and they can be easily outmatched if you have plot armor and a meltabomb. Not exactly the most impressive things.

That's like saying a machine that makes hydrogen bombs isn't very impressive. It's not the machine or the blueprint itself that's impressive, it is what it creates.

They are creation attributed to the Emperor to conquer the galaxy after Chaos stole the Primarchs. Since then they've been at the forefront of almost every battle the Imperium has fought, and without them the Imperium would have fallen centuries ago. They also can't easily make them anymore since the definite knowledge of their creation was lost when the Emperor was interred on the golden throne.
But then again half of the legions are responsible for how the galaxy is so craptastic, so there's that. Just my $0.02.

Actually, the Adeptus Mechanicus would probably purge it or hide it for 10 000 years or something.
Or the Adeptus Terra would lose it.
Or it would turn out to be a trap by The Alpha Legion for Cegorach, hijacked by Tzeench to get an advantge while playing poker with the Deceiver.
