as far as i can tell what's going on, is that normally all thows modles are sold in bundle of 3 guys for $50. So it's about $16-$17 per modle. This is one of the stupid one one click bundles.

Bassicly your just added 14 GW hero modles to your shipping cart in one go when you add to cart.

Basically it's more of the troll logic that the GW webstore seems to run off of. Doesn't mean that's it's any less stocking they are charging a price for the set that would make a Sisters of battle squad blush at the price tag.

It is crazy how GW have botched the Hobbit releases. The original LOTR movies drove a huge increase in their business (IIRC from 100M in 2000 to 140M in 2003). Granted, the Hobbit was unlikely to repeat that, but from the amount of support it gets it is like they want it to die a slow drawn out death.

The fact that there has never been a starter set for WOTR is criminal. Charging $190 for a character set that should cost a quarter of that is laughable.

I can afford it (maybe not for a while after I dropped $500 on Black Friday minis), but I just don't think it's worth the money. That's like £8.42 each for what is essentially a 20-25mm mini.
That's a steep price if you're buying them individually and factoring in GW tax, but for a box set of 14 of it them it's just horrible.

For comparison with a similar sort of set (a collection of characters from a film/show under license), I bought the Dads Army Home Guard set from Warlord Games, 18 metal mini's in 28mm for £40. That's £2.20 each.

Now, obviously the Hobbit is the much bigger franchise, but why are the Dwarfs nearly 4 times the price, when they are smaller and in an inferior material?
