I think there is often a tendency to link the practices of GW to the games they make and tar everything with the one brush as a result. I love 40K, and I got giddy at the sight of their design studio playing some sort of Xmas 8-way knight game at WW just before the holidays, but the boardroom of that company are something else.
I forget why I love my hobby if I surround myself with too much negativity, so I try to limit my time in N&R on this site and stopped listening to TEW altogether

It's a great point, and good advice, however I've found that I simply can't force myself to separate the game from the company.
I'm not sure if it's because I've been around the block a few times in the business world, or if it's just an intrinsic part of my personality, but I just find that whenever I play a game of 40k, the imbalances and unclear rules are absolutely glaring to me when I consider how much I paid to play it. And on top of that, because I keep myself familiar with their business practices, I feel that it's a result of neglect and a strip-to-the-bones business strategy -- not incompetence, which I would probably find forgivable. I simply can't force myself to detach the gaming experience from knowing that.
If you can do it, all the more power to ya. It's a fun setting and some of the models are terrific.

Imbalances and unclear rules have been there since RT.
40K is fun, the fluff is cool, and GW is an evil soulless corporation, just like every other corporation.

But unlike practically every other company within the wargames industry - GW themselves not that long ago - and therein lies the problem.
That's completely how I feel Slowthar, the way GW behaves has actually damaged my enjoyment of the games and miniatures they release. I don't want that to be the case, and I know this is different for each of us, but unfortunately that's how it is for me.

Thanks guys, I didn't think that anyone still cared.
It's me Dan from DLT and TEW. Yes both shows are dead. Carl from IC summed it up more politely that I would have with the death of DLT. The Eternal Warriors is a different story. We still game but it's impossible to get everyone together to record on a regular basis any more. First Chris got married and we almost never saw him after that. Then Dave got a girlfriend and the same thing happened to him. John got a boyfriend and moved an hour away from any of us so he's as good as gone too.
Anyone who's ever done a podcast knows that it's no fun doing a solo show. I came up with some ideas but a gaming podcast isn't in my future. I'm done.
I still game and I kept most of my Nids, Traitor Guard and Grey Knights but GW isn't my thing anymore. Right now I'm much more into Malifaux, Warmahordes, Dreadball and occasionaly Infinity. This is my current FLGS http://www.gamestormgaming.com
I may do some more podcasting in the future. All of our old recording equipment is in front of me as I type. All I need is a good subject and co-host.
But DLT and TEW are dead. It's best to know when to let them go and to move on.

Nice to hear, Dan, that you are still gaming and are still out there.
I moved onto infinity, myself.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Wow, I can't believe I happened upon this thread. Facebook told me that I posted a bunch of TEW and DLT on my page 5-7 years ago. When I clicked those broken links, Google was nice enough to turn this thread up at the top of a search page about TEW.
Carl had a good synopsis of the demise of DLT and the ending of my time on TEW. There's not much to add that would keep things civil. Reading through the comments in this thread and remembering the role social media in its infancy played in our development, I can see we were a lot like Apple/Mac computers: 25% of the market share, 75% of the crazy. We had fun doing those shows. Quite a bit of fun in fact and I wouldn't trade our time together for anything. As I write this, I too have all of our original recording stuff out on my desk - had to pull the sound board out to get some home recording done for some songs I am working on. For those of you who remember our shows, remember the good times we sounded like we were having, because it was genuine. And those large segments of good times in life don't come round too often. You don't really miss them until they are gone.
Also remember that our shows never had an agenda except to speak the truth. We weren't shills for anyone and we didn't have paying advertisers we shoved down your throat several times a show. We didn't have our own pay forums we desperately wanted you to join and we didn't ask the listeners to buy us titans for Christmas. If we were positive, it was because what we talked about was awesome. If we were negative ... well, most of it was because that thing sucked. But some of it was because we were stuck in a rut - I wasn't ready to leave my GW armies behind for other games, but I hated ourselves a bit because we kept beating our heads against the same GW wall each week.
To the people who disliked us: how much did Spencer pay you? To the people who liked us: Thank you! and the check's in the mail.
I am recently coming back into the fold with Swizzy and Daniel, but we aren't the same people who did those podcasts. Real life, fatherhood, beginnings/endings ... all the BS of life dictate that we interact differently now. In fact, Swizzy communicates through memes exclusively while Dan only communicates via chirps and clicks, which as you can imagine, makes it very difficult for my guitar-riff-to-English translator to work properly.
Thanks again everyone, it was fun and I'm glad most of you enjoyed yourselves with DLT/TEW.
I too may do some podcasting in the future if I had any spare time, but I find now that any schmuck with a microphone is doing a show and most of them are really bad. Dan and I recently discussed doing something, but the subject material ranged from politics to mayonnaise vs vinegar potato salads.
