No charges to be filed against George Zimmerman in assault case

Zimmerman was accused of throwing wine bottle at woman

State Attorney Phil Archer announced Friday that his office will not file formal charges against Zimmerman in connection with his arrest January 9 in which he was accused of throwing a wine bottle at his onetime girlfriend.

“While it is clear that the officers had probable cause to arrest Mr. Zimmerman, which was affirmed by the circuit court judge at initial appearances, the subsequent recantation by the victim of her initial statement along with new documents provided by the victim and her attorney precludes my office from proceeding further,” Archer said.

The State Attorney's Office said the woman later denied that Zimmerman threw a bottle at her and stated that she was never in fear of him. She also made it clear that she did not want to proceed with the case, said officials, who added that a lack of eyewitnesses or other corroborating evidence to dispute her version of the incident also contributed to the decision.

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell agreed with Archer’s decision to not file formal charges.

Don't take my statement as saying he's immune to justice. I wholeheartedly believe that the murder trial saw justice. I just find it amusing that they keep coming at him with stuff, and it never gets him.

He seems a person lacking good judgment on many things. The various scrapes he's been involved in have been largely exacerbated by his behaviour. He's not necessarily a murderer or batterer, but some people create needless drama by inflaming situations they cause or become involved in, some I've known seem to thrive on it.

It helps that his accusers have repeatedly declined to press charges, likely in part because they don't want to end up in a nationally covered court case.

Well, I think the important thing we've established in this thread is no matter what happens, George Zimmerman is totally not responsible for whatever George Zimmerman might do, or allegedly do: either it's all a setup, because "they're" out to get him, or his psyche is so warped by "them" trying to get him, that it's still not his fault anyway.

Personal responsibility kinda took it in the shorts in this thread.

While i think George Z. is a reprehensible human being all things told, and i sincerely hope he gets hit by a bus on most days ending in 'y', i think the Jury in the Martin case made the right call given the laws of the state and the submission of evidence into trial.

If that were the case, she would have pressed charges. Dude needs to sop assaulting his girlfriend is what he needs to do.

I don't recall anyone advocating this. Perhaps you could point out who exactly said such a thing.
