Why do you think melta guys in drop pods do so well? Because it gets short range guns into range.
And those guns are melta. Not glorifed assault/auto cannons
Yes, and this is the edition of hull point stripping where Star 7 is king.

Did you listen to any of my explanation about the inefficiency of Psycannons?
If you truly believe that S7 is king, then you're just backing up the fact that Heavy Psycannon Teleport Pack Dreadknights are the way to go.

You don't need long range fire power when you deepstrike turn 1 into the opponent's face.

Yes, but 2 shots on PA guys is still decent.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that the battlereport he saw where the Tau got tabled wasn't just "GK player sits back and let's his unkillable dreadknights do all the work" the GKs, using the nemisis strike force (that cuts them down to 2 heavy support instead of 3. by the way) are a deep striking close range alpha strike army, that's pretty much an army that Tau are going to struggle with considering their army works best if their opponent is at range. I can belive GKs could table Tau, even without dreadknights.

I don't see why Tau players need to tailor their lists to stand a chance against Grey Knights, they should be able to stand a chance with an all commers list.

No, Dreadnoughts wouldn't be worth it even without the Dreadknight.
We'd just have to take more Terminators.

Indeed. We'd just take as many troops as possible because that would be the only good option to use those points for.
Another Terminator squad and a Stormraven is what i would do.

The DK isn't cheesy because its one of our only competitive options. GKs are not dominating the competitive scene, we're using the only competitive options we have available. And we're only middle of the pack.
Take your anti-GK rage boner elsewhere please.

Matt was (admittedly) using a TERRIBLE list of Tau, and they were only playing a super-small game. As points increase, that game would have been much closer. If Matt wasn't using a terribad list that was tailor-made to be tabled, it would have gone differently. Oh, and Matt also had some of the worst dice-rolling I have EVER seen (right out of the gates with Seize, etc...)
That game is nothing to go by. It was a horrible game of 40k, which yes, we have all had, but was literally the perfect storm of circumstances, not the norm.

Just watched that game... how can you complain about the DK? It did nothing the whole game except kill some pathfinders.
Also, that entire list didn't have a single interceptor in it, which was... odd.
