The Russ reminds me of how the late-war Russian heavy tanks were (such as the IS-3).

They lack some of the higher technology gear (such as the 4th Edition Predator's Power of the Machine Spirit), but all their desi hm efforts are focused where it counts: Protection and firepower.

They lack the Rate of Fire of the Predator (Heavy 2 vs Ordnance 1), but fire far heavier, more devastating shells (str8 Ap3 Large Blast vs Str7 Ap4) just like the 122mm Russian guns would have done compared to, say, a Sherman's 76mm.

Their armor is thicker, and more well shaped (yes yes I know the model is terrible - I have some kind of off topic thoughts on that), though it sacrifices mobility somewhat.

Warhammer 40k TT just needs a complete overhaul. Balance the rules like they've been in the process of doing, but also MAKE THE RULES MAKE SENSE.

To quote a fictional character... "Let's make this fun!"

There was a story in the SM omnibus where a single kroot killed 2-3 marines then ate their gene seed and became a Kroot-startes.

We must all join the Kroot-startes...

Quantity vs quality in the fluff anyway.

There are thousands of IG model tanks to a single a marine one, they have much more advanced tech and materials, and much more hand made, more Religiously labored over than churned out by thousands per day.

A leman Russ is a slow steady gun platform that's easy to maintain and reliable to a fault.

Ooh! I know!

Each Russ on the field is actually three Russes who all act as a single unit! Hence the extreme toughness - they're like Swarm bases!

There like well armoured Sherman tanks.
You destroy one and the factory has 5 more waiting to ship out to war zones. The never ending swarm of bpxy boxy metallic bees!

now see thats what the IG needs, a light tank "sherman tank" style unit.

give it 12/10/10 armor and an autocanon. price it at 55 points or say and allow em to be taken in squadrons of 5!

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

While it is a dream and never going to happen, I would love if it the rules were overhauled completely and switched over to the Crossfire system (I think that was what the game was called). It had great suppression mechanics and a far better movement system then you-go-I-go.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

You know... the chimera is actually closer to a light battletank then the scout that the salamander is. It had autocannon options (and FW turrets for it) in the past.
You can't take a single squadron of it, but you can use an armored fist (mech. infantry) platoon
