Have to agree that if someone is asking if a unit can be taken with other units then they're either speaking of a Battle-forged list or have no concept of what Unbound is, so simply saying, "Yeah the rules say you can" is actually more unhelpful than saying, for example "There's no Fortification slot in a Knight Detachment so (in that detachment) you can't."

Yeah, good for your FLGS. But the overwhelming majority of people default to Detachments. Ergo, Unbound is the odd format which is rarely played. So don't assume its ok.

Sorry I wasn't aware of this survey of all 40k players. Please can you point me to where these findings are found?

It's also weird to assume a person who is asking about unit restrictions is playing without unit restrictions.

Firstly there are still restrictions in unbound. Secondly he may not be aware Unbound exists hence the wording of my first post.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

If you originally replied on the basis the OP may not have known Unbound existed then that's also on the basis that the OP must have meant Battle-forged, or something similarly restrictive.

Observation, my friend. The findings are everywhere. You post here often enough. You should be able to see that the overwhelming majority of organized play and pick up games don't generally support Unbound. Yes, some local communities have no issue with it. Anecdotal evidence from this forum and many other online forums tell us that you should not expect organized play events or strangers in a FLGS to be ok with an Unbound list.

Keep in mind that when we make statements like "Unbound is rarely played", we're not talking about A game or A community... we're talking about the "meta". We don't care how my store does things or how your store does things. We're really interested in what you're most likely to find if you walk into a random store in a new town somewhere. Currently, based on anecdotal evidence from literally thousands of posters in online communities everywhere... you're not likely to receive a warm welcome if you're playing Unbound. Such is life.

I can't for the life of me figure out why you've decided to draw a line in the sand on this topic. Let it go. You'll be a happier person.

I could say that for both 'sides' of this discussion.

I think we're done here.
