Well, he is a multi-billionaire. His personal profit from the sale of LucasArts was some $4b. Plus all the SW merchandise ever. All the licensing of SW materials up to the date of sale. His retainer salary from Disney ("Chief Creative Editor" or some such), and the money all of his other movies have made.

I hear a lot of people being excited about the possibility of Disney getting their hands on the license, not much about Lucas himself.

Yeah, I don't know why people would think Lucas would do anything. He's retired. He's sleeping on a bed made of money now and just punts fist-fulls of cash at charities these days. Plus he wouldn't want to deal with the stress of managing GW and it's fanbase- the toxicity of the Warsies probably factored into him selling Star Wars to begin with.

Plus Disney would be horrid for 40K.

Any kind of movie/TV show would be horrid. GW would insist they show off every single concept from the setting all at once and then some studio executive would come along and decide that since they're making a movie to sell toy soldiers it must need to be PG-13-rated and we'd end up with a pile of gibberish.

And here I was expecting a Disney Princess joke. Not a lot of women in Warhammer to choose from, though.

Donald Duck is actually a marine.

Did you paint that up really quickly or did you prep him ahead of time for just such an occasion?

That was a revelation. It was midnight and i was sleeping in my cosy bed and stuff but than suddenly there was bright light and God Emperor talked to me.

"Donald Duck is a marine" - he said.

BAM! I understood everything.

Nah. The Ultramarines movie was much, much worse. The problem is that the difference is academic; getting shot in the stomach is worse than getting shot in the head, but either way you're probably dead.

If you mean the Ultramarines movie, that wasn't done by GW. That was done by Codex Pictures. All GW did was allow them to pay the licensing fees.

Oh wait! You weren't actually counting prequels were you? Well if that's your benchmark then hell yeah, Lucas dropped the ball! But lets not get dragged down into that awful thing.

I think that in reality no one could just "take over" the 40k helm, no one would support that. You simply wouldn't be able to find a person or company that would please everyone.

But if we could take our favourite things and add them to 40k somehow... man wouldn't that be sweet! Wait, what?

Not really, no. Most of the stuff from other IPs either already exists in the setting in some way, or has no place being there in the first place.

I'm not sure it would be much worse, actually. GW and George are both pretty incompetent.
