Most worlds marines recruit from are primitive societies. They think the individuals chosen have been chosen to join the divine armies of the gods. They're not going to say no, even if they could.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

They get killed as the heretic they are. (The atheists who decline, not failed aspirants, though those guys tend to die as well)

Space Wolves turn initiates who fail the test of Morkai into servitors, not because they can't physically handle their gene seed but because they're mentally weak.

No I'm not, It was in Ian Watson's, Space Marine. Old, old fluff, but probably still the best for the life of a marine.

I don't think a failed Flesh Tearer aspirant would be made a serf, what with all that tasty pre astartie blood running through his vein's.

Now I'm curious: who are the acolytes?

I'm a little surprised that no one mentioned them, but I'm not totally sure who they are either. Seems to me that that'd be a pretty likely outlet for the honorable failed astartes.

Well I the case I know of, Crimson Fists failed recruits become 'chosen', like Ordinator Savales. They he was blown to smithereens, but that's beside the point.

Acolytes are probably just initiates. Depends on the chapter i guess. If theyre referring to SM.

Acolytes are usually Inquisitors underlings
