Also, try running swift claws with multimelta, melta, and a power fist or two alongside your thunderwolwes. I've found they compliment each other well and can put out a lot of hurt side by side.

I don't think Tau excel in maneuverability. Yes, their firepower is out-of-this-world, but I feel as though skimmers are somewhat fragile and can be forced to crash much easier.
Anything they own can be crushed in close combat, but the approach is extremely difficult unless you can infiltrate or launch A LOT of drop pods right into his lines which would be your best bet.

Yes, and tucked away neatly in a Void Shield Generator, to reduce incoming fire. And then buffed with a pope and a Cadre.
