This is some great stuff. Steel Legion was the army that got me into 40k in the first place. Really love the paint jobs on the vehicles and especially the wheeled chimera conversion.

Thank you for the kind words brushcommando and nuke556. I am overwhelmingly excited looking at this army now.

Next up in my blog will be the Forge World Baneblade and my 35 point list of Cygnar. The Baneblade will take some work because it was used when I got it and it's missing a few pieces that I will have to fabricate. Namely the Heavy Bolters on one side and one of the crew hatches on the right side top of the tank. Most of the Cygnar are built and I still need to buy one more model for them. I am going to try to get the model and some paints for them my next couple days off.

I also want to submit a few models into the Dakka unofficial painting challenge this month. My mind is always rolling around random conversions for my armies. Mostly scenic bases and the such, but sometimes something complete off the rocker. This time it has to do with Vampire Count. I may step up to the challenge and get something special going, otherwise I will probably just submit five of my Cygnar gun mages. I think they fit the theme well enough, they are mystical and tricky. If someone came up to my door step dressed like that I would give them candy.

To start with, I know this picture has all ready shown its ugly mug before, buts its the latest picture I have.

Secondly, I magnetized my Defender so I can use the box set to it s fullest advantage.

So it begins... Work to be done.

Haven't done too much to the Baneblade so far other than the camo. A model that big can be a bit daunting at some times. I did, however, work on my Cygnar over the weekend.

Took a bit of a break from painting but got some work done over the past week.

I undercoated all my other models and airbrushed the base coat on most of them.

    P.S.
Sorry dethork, you know how it is. I'm backwards from everyone else and really only have time to update my blog while I'm at work, and I've been off all week. But heres your update .

More work on the Cygnar. So far with about 13 hours of painting I have gotten five of my gun mages done and the lancer is approximately 75% done. My next couple days off I need to get some P3 paint and I am going to start working on the Sword Knights after the lancer and the last two ATGMs are done.

I haven't painted anything in almost a MONTH ! I have been losing focus and have not been motivated enough to paint more Cygnar. So I am going to take a small break and paint more of my Battlefleet Gothic ships. I am going to start with repainting my Gothic class Cruiser in my new colors then I am going to work on my Emperor class Battleship, x2 Lunar class and a Tyrant class Cruisers.

These are the same models that I am using for the unofficial Dakka painting challenge. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/671966.page

Its a fun, friendly competition that welcome any painter. I am somewhat of a mediocre painter so its fun for me to see how my painting might have improved by getting votes from other Dakka users. If you haven't done it I recommend it. It has motivated me enough to finish at least one model a month .

    Gothic class Cruiser

    Emperor class Battleship

Top to bottom: Lunar, Lunar and Tyrant Cruisers.

Rough estimate of BFG to finish
  • 8 Cruisers of varying classes

  • 1 Dauntless

  • 9 Firestorms

  • 3 Swords

  • 6 Cobras

Started working on the Emperor last night. Being completely pewter the super glue, brown stuff and pining I had initially put it together with did not hold well, so I used JB weld instead. It is holding up great so far. Next I need to finish building the Emperor and then try to remember what paints and inks I used to paint them...

I was surprised that my rough estimate on how many ships I have was really close, I was only off by a couple Frigates and some Destroyers. I have not looked at my BFG stuff since about the beginning of this year. Total I have the Emperor class Battleship, 2x Gothic class Cruisers, 2x Dictator class Cruisers, 2x Tyrant class Cruisers, 2x Mars class Cruisers, 6x Lunar class Cruisers, 3x Dauntless class Light Cruisers, 10x Firestorm class Frigates, 6x Sword class Frigates and 17x Cobra class Destroyers.

    BFG to finish
  • 8 Cruisers

  • 1 Dauntless

  • 7 Firestorms

  • 6 Swords

  • 11 Cobras

The Emperor is built. It kinda ended up looking weird. The model did not want to go together correctly and one of the fins on the engines was not the right side. I was able to convert enough and use green stuff to fill in the gaps. It kinda looks like Battlestar Galactica after she rammed the Cylon Basestar... I primed it black and ran out of primer half way through, but I was able to get it fully primed after some work and dry brushed the base coat on. It looks much better with paint.

I got a preview whilst working on da Boyz who'll be that specific ship's main opponents. The paint job so far is rather...stellar.

Had to take a bit of a break. I had an accidental slip with the hobby knife while working on one of the Cobras and gutted my thumb pretty badly. I was able to get the Emperor completed prior to the incident but have not had the time to update my blog. Work and stuff...

Thanks for tagging along ZergSmasher . By the way, I am looking forward to seeing your Stormsurge. I have mixed feelings about that model but I am sure it will look great in your blue colour scheme!

As for you dethork, I am looking forward to using this ship. I need to loot the Lee at some point so I can see how these ships look side by side.

Well, it's a new year and I still have a lot of stuff that needs to be worked on. Last year ended up not being the best for painting. I did manage to finish a small list of Steel Legion which makes me really happy. I also finished about half of my Cygnar and half of my BFG. I stripped and started to repaint an old FW Baneblade and started painting a new Thunderbolt.

For this year my plans are to finish my BFG, Cygnar, Tau, some Flames of War and I hope to start working on my Imperial Fists for 30k and 40k. I also want to get my Baneblade finished along with the Thunderbolt. I also plan to buy an Imperial Knight so I can start with some test painting for the Warhound Titan I bought last year at Gen Con.

To start this month off I am going to be working on a mixture of Cygnar and BFG. I want to try my best to finish both of them off before February.

Its been a long time since I have updated my blog. No sob story of why I didn't paint, I was just too lazy . I am going to start something new that I hope will help me avoid getting burnt out painting the same models over and over. Starting this month I am painting Imperial Fists on Sundays that I don't work, one day a month I will work on Battlefront Flames of War starting will WW1, then any other day I get time I will work on my back log.

Started painting again late last month. I have been working on my FW Maximillian Weisemann Baneblade for quite some time. Recently I added a green stripe camo pattern to help break up the model from being a solid blob of GW Steel Legion Drab, I used GW Castellan Green for the stripes. I bought a new airbrush and based the tracks using a mixture of Skrag Brown and Warplock Bronze. Hit all the nooks and crannies with Typhus Corrosion and high lighted the Steel Legion Drab with Baneblade Brown. I still have A LOT to do, but I am hoping to get it done soon!

Last night I started working on my 30k Imperial Fists. First up, I have ten Tactical Marines from the Betrayal at Calth box set and eight Breachers. I am still trying to figure out what I want the other two Breachers to have for special weapons. For these guys I start by undercoating them with Army Painter Daemonic Yellow then I base coat them using P3 Sulfuric Yellow (I think that's the right colour name...). So far these models are using a mix of the standard parts and Imperial Fists upgrade pack.

Have most of the work done on one of my Breachers so far. This is my first 30k model I have painted and the first Imperial Fist I have painted in a long time. The airbrush definitely helped with the yellow. After looking at the photos I realized I forgot to finish the boltgun and I have some touch up work to do. I have one more set of legs and a torso done so I will try to finish him up Monday or Tuesday. Three more have the first splashing of ink and will get work done to them next weekend.

Ok then... Its been over a year since I have updated my blog. I really lost interest in Warhammer 40k due to 6th and 7th ed, and for the most part, lost interest in painting in general due to long hours at work and simply not enjoying the games I used to enjoy. However, I am back! I am really excited about 8th ed and decided to break out the old models and brushes and get back into the hobby. For the parts of 6th and 7th that I played, and then returned to 5th ed, I played with my Guard that I managed to finish 2 years ago.

For 8th ed I am going to work on my Tau that never really got the attention they needed because I lost interest. We are starting with 50 power points until we get a grip of the new rules and changes. Then we will bump up to using 1200-1500 points after we get a hang of the game again.

unfortunately, a lot of my Tau have taken some damage and needed some tender lover and care. Other things needed to be replaced all together, and more yet never got put together and pieces here and there, including my bits box, has vanished... So I started new, reusing my Riptide I only played one game with, I bought one Firewarrior squad new and the other was rebuilt using my other battered squad, and a brand new commander because my old metal part one never liked staying together.

I bought the new commander box and built him into a Cold Star because he looks pretty cool, and I really like the high output burst cannon.

I added another box of Crisis suits to replace some od the old broken ones and the ones I don't want to paint over using my new colour scheme. I built these guys like my old ones using missle pods because they seem really good still.

As for my new scheme, old bleached bone and new XV 88 was what I ended up liking.

I am mostly going to focus on Tau for the foreseeable future, and after they are done I have plenty of armies that want my attention. Hopefully I can keep up and get some armies done, something I haven't done in a couple years.
