"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Unless you are one of the heretic guard regiments that, you know.....aren't. Like the Blood Pact.

The Mechanicus is not the Dark Mechanicus.
yeah the admech and dark mechanium are EXTREMELY differnt. they might have infantry that's roughly the same, but most of their units are gonna be pretty differnt.

I don't think they would be anywhere near the same to be honest.
The Dark Mechanicum has been all about progress and tinkering with everything.
The Mechanicum proper has been stagnant.

They changed the Allies table so you can literally take any ally. Most of the limitations can be storied away pretty easily if you are taking the allies for narrative reasons. "Heretic Guard are intimidated by the Daemons, even though they are on the same side, causes certain rule changes, etc." If you're only taking Allies for rules, well, I have no understanding of how you play the game anyway.
The only thing I'd like to see changed about the Ally table would be removing the weird requirement that it be symmetrical. I think it's perfectly reasonable to have Army A Allies of Convenience with Army B, but if you flip the Primary Detachment have Army B Desperate Allies with Army A.

I'm liking this one. ^ The narrative reason for the heretic guard not trusting the daemons is that they're intimidated by their rules.

Hi!
It sounds like you're an heretical traitor. Even the mere knowledge of the existence of the traitor guard has been designated Security Clearance ULTRAVIOLET. Your question is therefore considered treason. Reading your question is considered treason. Reading this answer is considered treason. Please report to your nearest available Termination Booth. If you are unable to access a Termination Booth at this time, remain where you are and a Commissar will be with you shortly. Thank you for your cooperation. Have a nice daycycle!

This is without even going into forces that are fresh on the road to heresy and have not degenerated that far.
This is one of the reasons I dont use 'official" paint schemes because it too visually pigeonholes you. If you have a marine force in your own colors, you could play it as any marine chapter or chaos chapter (or offshoot) so long long as everything was wysiwyg and you had the actual models in the case of the units that are army specific.
So having painted my marines in space wolves colors suddenly makes it impossible to play it as another chapter although everything remains wysiwyg?

Jeah of course. But as far as the rules are concerned theres absolutely no difference between a yellow marine with a bolter and a grey marine with a bolter.
