Devastating Dark Reaper

Played against some Tau today at my FLGS and I'm not quite as worried now. His army wan't optimised but the opponent is good player. His list included a riptide, a unit of broadsides, jumpy suit things, a flyer and some pathfinders and fire warriors.

It was pretty easy to out range the broadsides with the flyers until I wanted to move in closer in the later stages. The riptide got 2 of the hunters down to 1hp but the re-rollable 4 up meant I didn't actually loose any and he couldn't by-pass the cover because I out-ranged the markerlights. Also all that meant the riptide wasn't shooting the WK which it had on the first turn. Eventually the WK rolled a 6 and removed the riptide.

The flyers then had pretty much free reign and swooped around to kill his hiding HQ and the remaining broadsides.

I appreciate a tournament list is likely to include more riptides, broadsides and marker lights but I think I learned some valuable lessons about playing with eldar mobility at 30-36' range where the marker lights and missilesides stop being able to reach. Overall I think I'm still going to get humped by a good Tau player but maybe not quite to the same extent!

People realize the FBSC cost double the Crismon Hunter formation and requires support.

You can't assume competitive Tau will have either the FBSC or SkyRays. I certainly did well fielding neither.

Requires ZERO support. Broadsides don't need marker support and riptides are anti troop. The broadsides will either kill all three fliers and some other elder pretty well or draw fire well enoughj

How many points is this list? Chances are those wraithguard don't get to shoot anything unless the Tau you face have the worst target prioritization ever

Broadsides won't ignore cover with their HYMP, Crisom Death has a Rerollable 4+ Cover save, mane Evers play with a range advantage on booth HYMP and SMS meaning they get to Aplha strike their counter. And they have vector general.

That Eldar list shouldn't be afraid of Tau. Tau cannot handle a Wraithknight, that model pretty much makes it a very very one sided game. The Crimson deal doesn't care about Tau AA as it gets the Aloha Steike and has a turn or two to negate AA. Seriously, not an issue to take just about any Tau build with that list.
