I found that uber CC units its go big or go home. So add on as many characters as you want. Better to have more expensive characters then less, especially if they add buffs.

There is no being careful in 7th ed 40K. That's the problem. Firepower lists select what dies, not you. With assault lists, your opponent selects what dies, not you.

You can be careful - it just requires focus. Of course there must be some LoS blocking terrain. I really think the way to go is taking one squad of each... A large squad of DC lead by Lemartes with 2-3 power fists and a five man squad of SG lead by Dante and a Priest. Design your army around them.

Last game I played I brought 9bolter w/3pfistsDC and Mephiston in a pod and dropped them into a Necrons army, 3power weapon DC and mephiston survived and just ate his beefed up warlord on the CCB and multicharged 2 annil barges and was about to wipe some immortals before we stopped.

I also had a dante/priest/7sang guard combo start on the table moving up behind my 2 baal preds and rhino. They wiped groups of scarab/preat/2immortals and a stalker.

I'm really liking the 9DC and Meph in a droppod, looking forward to testing it more, maybe throwing some inferno pistols into the group for a first turn vehicle pop before Mephiston can have his fun. I think its best to have both groups running with IC's in your lists. Each one is such a beefy threat that by turn 2 atleast one of these groups will start cutting through their squads. Your opponent has to stop both of them to have a chance of surviving.
