I love a lot of the dual purpose kits they have for DA right now. The raven wing black knights/command squad, the dark talon/nephilim, the darkshroud/vengence, and that terminator kit!

After having assembled 3 of the old dark angel's battle forces (and I have 4 unopened from when I scooped them all up when I found out the were discontinued), the black knights box is a blessing. Things fit so well, with minimal pose restriction. You can build the bikes will all kinds of options, get a bunch of extra melee weapons. Did I mention how great these bike go together? Plus they just look sharper then normal bikes without being overloaded and busy with detail.

Close second is the deathwing termy/command/kight kit. So many options, that you can build 3 different units (granted terminators only vary so much), you will have tonnes of bits left over. And just like the bikes, the model detail is on point. Just a bit of extra flair to put them above your plain jane terminators, but not so much that it feels like putting together a squad of super detailed ICs.

If I had to pick a favorite box to open, it is the DV expansion for DA. The bikes and termies, combined with our beautiful (and now functional) flyer. Everything gets blinged, dozens of magnets, bits get used to spice up old plain models, and there is still a pile of bits left.

I agree completely there. The raptors and warp talons look amazing. The chainswords that come in that box are by far my favorites. Also, SO.... MANY... LIGHTNING CLAWS. Since the champion of chaos rule came about. It became the the goto weapon for my champions. So, one raptor box can supply all the specialty weapons I need for a while. Probably also some of the sickest jump packs I've ever seen.

Don't forget the mutated plasma gun and meltagun. They look good on chosen.

The jump packs are too prone to causing puncture wounds during assembly for my tastes but I do love the rest of the models.

Lol, now imagine how horrible it is to assemble a Dark Eldar army! I've got more blood on my DE than I have paint...

Oh no, DE aren't nearly as sharp as Warp Talon/Raptor bits. Practically every square inch is covered in sharpened spikes that will impale your fingers. You think sticking Kalabite Warriors are bad? Imagine trying to set a chaos jump pack that has spikes sticking out in every direction.

Draws nearly as much of my blood as my hobby knife.

SW Grey Hunters for me probably. A dream to assemble, tonnes of bits n bobs in them, posable, thematic. A great set of sprues to be fair.

Another vote for Sternguard. I also like just plain Vanilla Tac Marine sprue, as well...there's alot of bits and accoutrements there too for a 10 man set.

The Tyranid Warrior sprue is pretty good sprue IMO, even though you only get 3 Warriors for it out of the box, with a trip to ebay for bits, I was easily able to spread it out into 9 total warriors with all the extra weapons and heads on the sprue, and for little extra cost IIRC.

Also, the Lychguard/Praetoriean box is probably the best for extra bits for the Necron collector, especially now that so many of the variant weapons can be taken by HQs with the new codex.

I have to second the Space Wolves sprues. Enough gorgeous bits that I happily converted some older vanilla Marines and CSM into Sons of Russ and they look perfectly natural. My only (small) gripe is that a plasma gun is the only special weapon in the kit. Thankfully, I had enough meltas and flamers lying around in bits boxes!

I mean, I love the kit so much that I currently have 46 Grey Hunters, 25 Blood Claws, 19 Long Fangs, 9 PA Wolf Guard, 20 Wolf Scouts, 10 Skyclaws and 5 Swiftclaws all made with parts from it.

Yes, lack of specials was a definite issue, would have loved more flamers but still a solid kit.
